Thanks Ladybirder.
No problem Naomi. This thread is a classic example of what pees me off about this site. People deliberately misinterpreting what is clearly written and not having the good grace to accept they are wrong in that interpretation when called out on it.
I have to laugh or I'll cry. Mwah;-)

It says an awful lot about the other side when they can't even write an insult correctly!

Ladybirder .... it was nothing written, it came out of Duncans mouth, I saw it, I heard it, I didn't read it .... he is a prize prat!
^ :o)
Just for the record, 'prat' is an obsolete term for buttocks, now usually meaning that which is concealed therein.
Don't get your point, Baldric. That's what I said. Def.1 has its origins in def.2.
cf. Pratfall
Naomi does not need me to defend her. I would just like to say that I occasionally oppose her and she has also held me to account (Grrr)- she has never been less than clear-minded (sometimes, rarely, wrong in my op.) in her posts and she has really had to fight lately. So, not a real point or anything, I suppose, just an observation and a bit of support for freedom of speech (or should it be expression?).
Incidentally, if you are interested in the etymology of 'mild' abusive terms, you could do worse than trace the origin of 'berk'.

Ah yes, I know that one, involves Foxhounds.
It does indeed, Baldric.
Jourdain, thank you. I really appreciate that. :o)
