/// Mr Cameron should consider that of all the countries in the Europe, Britain has the longest established tradition of offering sanctuary to refugees from war and oppression. ///
Yes but these have been fellow Europeans, and why have we been able to that? It is the fact that we have in the past fought and died to defend our lands, so as to keep our country free from invasion.
Why should we give up all this now?

Nothing to do with actually having witnessed the specific situation with children in Calais for themselves then - unlike, I would hazard a guess, anybody commenting here ...
I don't know why journalists bother going all over the world to report stuff. We already know all the answers before they've typed a single word.

Ellipsis, // Nothing to do with actually having witnessed the specific situation with children in Calais for themselves then//
I can’t claim to have done that but if it’s of any help to you I have visited refugee camps in the Middle East and witnessed the situation there first hand.
These children are safe – they’re in France. Europe is currently being inundated with what will likely be a never-ending flow of ‘refugees’ and there comes a time when we have to acknowledge that we can’t cure the ills of the world – as much as we’d like to. Common sense must prevail.

Naomi, I agree with your arguments when it applies to the adults in France. When it comes to the unaccompanied children, we can discuss until the cows come home who should and shouldn't be taking responsibility for those children. In the meantime, the children suffer. I believe we should do our bit to stop that.

These children are of the Muslim faith and it would be unfair for them not to be brought up by other Muslims.
Still waiting for the The Muslim Council of Britain to step up to the oche with offers of fostering with Muslim families.
Failing that, perhaps those wishing for them to come here would be prepared to take some in?
