Our social services cannot look after the interests of a a little girl in Birmingham. You commented on the case on another thread earlier. Best we looked after our own abandoned and abused children first and ensure there are people who know how to look after kids. They are better off in a safe country like France.

On his coast down to retirement, prematurely announced in a moment of complete assininity, Dave's looking for a legacy project and thinks this could be it.
He'll be gone soon enough and can clear off to the real trough once he's out of the public spotlight.
The rest of us can sleep with one eye open as gutless besuited wasters turn our country into a dumping ground for anybody with a missing shoe and a hard luck story. Oh, and an iPhone.

Well, someone has to pay for them naomi, and however they “dress it up” the money will have to be syphoned off from somewhere.
And when these kids reach 17/18, they will probably go to the top of the list for social housing.
The more they let in, the further down the ladder the rest of us slide.
I’m off to watch some telly while I still can. It won’t be long until I’m wearing a burqa or one of those heebie jeeebie things, and my only entertainment will be sitting quietly in a corner reading the Quran!

Mikey/youngmafbog, it's ok for me to think bigbad's description of the 'heebie jeeebie things' was funny, isn't it? Or isn't it?
Baldric, quite right - except the bleeding hearts who can't see the wood for the trees and are putting the pressure on don't see it that way. Did you see Yvette Cooper's performance in the Commons today? I've often wondered if she studied at RADA.

/// Then the correct strategy would be to heap embarrassment where it belongs – on France. These children are not in war torn Syria. They are in France, a civilised country where people from the UK go for holidays and day trips. Imagine the situation reversed. The UK was continuing to hold child refugees in squalid conditions. What would France do? Take them in or make a fuss about the squalor the UK was providing for them? You only have one guess. ///
Just as I have already pointed out, France are the guilty ones here.
Perhaps we should also set up camps, but on a more humane footing you understand?
Then perhaps our neighbour over the channel would speak out in sympathy and take our camp dwellers and place them in more comfortable accommodation, feed them. clothe them, educate them, and look after all their health needs, all free of charge you understand?
Was that an elephant I saw flying overhead?
