The London Eye watches over the capital...
There's no need to ask twice -- I didn't answer the first time because I was still typing that reply before your question came up, so I wasn't ignoring you on purpose. Although, having said that, I'm not sure how to answer it. Presumably by nature of his being Muslim, from a Muslim family, you'd see him as loyal to his God above all else. Maybe so. But people can be loyal to their religion while keeping that relatively separate from their public life.

Let his term as Mayor, and what he actually does, be what we judge him by.
Oh, I think I am beginning to see a glimmer of light, but will expand no further.
another massive blow to the identity of this country...

the mugs that voted this muslim in will regret it sooner than later

another step on way to the muslim takeover...slowly but surely..on it goes
Jim, //you'd see him as loyal to his God above all else//

It's not me who should worry you. As a Muslim HE would see himself as loyal to his God above all else.
jim360 /// But I don't see how a Muslim getting elected democratically even remotely brings us closer to that. If Khan were genuinely a threat, or more to the point, genuinely tried to impose some sort of totalitarian Muslim regime... well, good luck with that if he cared to try. It's not really an office that lends itself to imposing unchecked religious dogma.///

Tower Hamlets pass you by, jim?

There will be many lighting up a few Hamlets in despair Svejk...
OK jim, follow blindly your political beliefs.

But dont say you have not been warned.

Well, Sadiq's playing a very long game if he's attempting to impose fundamentalist Islam on this country... starting by, for example, voting to extend marriage to same-sex couples, in favour of equal rights for gay people, and for equality and human rights in general; and, rather than exapnd this list too far, has never ignored the Labour party whip if he's voted. So I'd say his loyalties were to Labour first when it came to politics.

On balance, I'd be inclined to fear that rather than his religion, that seems to be something he's done a good job of practising only private.
Jim, Talk is cheap and it's also a passport to high places. Carry on.
It's *so* nice to be respectfully disagreed with, ymb...

So far, I've seen him accused of nothing more than being a Muslim, and he told us that himself.
Oh, and whilst we're on the subject, I had thought people might have considered that maybe it was up to *me* to answer jackdaw, rather than everyone else doing so on my behalf...
Jim, I despair.
Well, then, tell me what it is I'm supposed to be so terrified about.
Jim, everybody else??
Jim, I hesitate to tell you anything. Live .......observe ..... and learn.
ag, he means me.
I'm beginning to get the picture, I think, so no further explanation necessary.
