in electing that cheat Neil Hamilton to become a WMP? Or rather the folk of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have lost it?

Glad to see his knowledge of things Welsh is awful, despite having attended the Uni at Aberystwyth and being born in the Principality. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/politics/neil-hamilton-flunks-welsh-general-11301320

Good luck to those in Carmarthen in having an expenses cheat as your MP and also that fragrant and dreadful wife of his.

That was a political broadcast on behalf of The Ramblers Association.
^ :o)

I have a degree of respect for Christine Hamilton. Strong lady.

so why didn't she stand, naomi, would have been more credible than that her husband of hers?
DTC, I've no idea. I don't know the woman. Perhaps she doesn't see herself as a politician.
Is there much opportunity for the receiving of brown paper packages tied up with string in Welsh political circles?
Its worth bearing in mind that Hamilton won a regional seat, not an outright win.

But quite what the poor people of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have done to deserve this awful man and his even more awful wife, is anybodies guess !
//But quite what the poor people of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have done to deserve this awful man //

I'm guessing they voted for him.

Maybe not, but she backs a man who was done for expense rigging.....

I'm waiting for them to advocate 'Home Rule' - after all, Camarthen was one of the founding Uni movements for this - perhaps Hamilton has gaffed and should have stood and been counted behind the new Welsh Windbag, Leanne Wood. Quite a lot of similarity between her and Christine??
"But quite what the poor people of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have done to deserve this awful man and his even more awful wife, is anybodies guess ! "

could say the same about having you and your brand of politics inflicted on this board nearly every day

as naomi says, at least they had the choice , they voted for him...

NAOMI, there are two votes cast, one for a named individual and one for a party (the regional list) so folk were not voting for Hamilton but for UKIP.
Question Author
Somebody indicted for expense rigging on the magnitude that Hamilton did, should not be allowed to stand for being a regional member. Disgraceful.
UKIP is the only Party that would have him and even they weren't terribly keen.

A couple of days before the Election, Farage said that he hadn't even met him !
DTC...one good thing though....he is likely to be no bloody good at the job, so he can't do much harm I suppose.
THECORBYLOON, they got what they voted for.
The joys of the "Party List" system.

Quite how this ridiculous electoral system gained a hold in the UK is beyond me. A similar system exists for the Greater London Assembly. "Jobs for the Boys" is a more appropriate description. Expect this preposterous system to be inflicted on more and more voters until, eventually, even a General Election is held on this basis.
NAOMI they voted for UKIP, not for Hamilton so how would they know it was him they would get?
They would know because on the party list system candidates are ranked in order. If Hamilton was ranked #1, then if the party was allocated a seat it would automatically go to him. This is how it works in the EU elections.
THECORBYLOON, Is that ^ not how it works?
I thought he would have aimed at the Premiership in Scotland and took over Hamilton Academical...
