/// Mr Rees Mogg said the governor deserved to be sacked because it was like the Bank announcing during a general election campaign what the economic impact of a Tory or Labour win would be. ///

Certainly not. He'd be neglient if he didn't give his opinion on a matter which can affect the cou ntry's economy.
It's one thing to warn of risks another not to spend equal time on opportunities, and also not indicate the range of certainty that accompanies each. Any change has risk and opportunity and it is one's personal desires that dictate the assumptions and weightings you give to the calculations when trying to find a conclusion you want.

I can see Mr. Mogg's point of view. I think it is unlikely to achieve a lot though. Power folk tend to get away with a lot most of the time. I don't think this will, and maybe shouldn't, result in Mr. Carney spending more time with his family.
I think I'm not alone in losing all trust in bankers. Sack him and he will only be replaced by another self-serving clone. He was brought over from Canada with a great fanfare indicating that the hiring interest rates would be coming soon, but nothing has happened under his watch.
If he just issued the warning without any factual backing for his opinion then yes, I think he should be sacked.....and I include in this a statement along the lines of “IF, because of leaving, this happens, AND that happens AND the other happens...” with no proof that those things would happen.
If he said" this is what we believe will happen because of these unassailable facts," then that is part of his job.
No.
Of course he shouldn't be sacked. It is the duty of the Governor to advise the Government on its policies.
The Govenor is Independent of the Government as everyone knows, so the Government can not sack him. And Cameton and Osborne agree with him, so are not going to push for his removal.

Rees Mogg is a bit of a young fogey and deeply out of touch with everyone.
Mr Rees Mog should be "sacked" for, trying to use the media to get some one "sacked"

I assume he will give us plenty of warning before the next crash then?
Rees Mogg sums up the floccinaucinihilipilification of back bench Tory MPs :-)
I'm not really sure what anyone else was expecting a report that is ostensibly the latest about the UK's economic future. It has to discuss an issue that can be expected to have an impact on our short- and long-term economic future.
Nahh no one trusts bankers anyway, if anything he's helping the out crowd.
I can't help but notice that the out crwod are helped by everything, apparently:

If someone points out that there are obviously risks involved, this helps the out crowd.
If someone points out the potential benefits of leaving, this helps the out crowd.
If no-one says anything to try and persuade people that maybe the UK would be better off staying in the EU, or no better off by leaving, this too helps the out crowd, presumably.

This sort of approach to statements made by people in favour of staying in the EU reminds me of the "ducking stool" witch trial mentality.
The IMF are warning us about Brexit ...why bother when they also think the world is in for another financial meltdown.
^^ I have to agree, this is what I have though for a long time.
Every time someone, bank governor, world leader, economist, industry spokesman or what ever makes a statement supporting the EU , the only answer 'leave' have is to shout 'not fair' 'keep out of it' 'mind your own business' .
This to me is a convincing argument that they do not have a valid case and just do not like anyone expressing an opinion that undermines their own view. I have never seen an effective rebuttal of such a statement by 'leave' just outrage that anyone should dare to speak on the subject.
^ that is to Jim 360.

The Mogg is brilliant, has his finger on the pulse and what's more, gromit, will be your Prime Minister one day.
The only people who want to remain are the giant corporations, billionaires, banksters and the troughing politicians who do their bidding. Oh, and the easily fooled.
If he was truly independant then he would have also presented the 'could' if things worked the other way,. He chose not to therefore fitting into the camp of scaremongering so assisting the out camp.

The remain need to start pointing out the benefits, and stop simply scaremongering.

That is why I can't understand why the 'Left' are all for remaining, what is in it for them?

Unless of course they come under your "easily fooled" description Svejk?
//The remain need to start pointing out the benefits, and stop simply scaremongering. //

Logic dictates that if there were any real benefits, scaremongering wouldn't be necessary.
