According to the Guardian, it seems as if the Uk goes to the top of their list when it comes to picking a Muslim for it's capital's mayor.

Actually, Baldric is correct.

Unless there is a change in the law, the next Election for London Mayor will be held in May 2020. Unlike the Westminster Elections, Mayoral terms last only 4 years, not 5.

Sadiq Khan is not the first Muslim mayor of a European country, and in all likeliness won't be the last.

He should be judged on what he does, not what he is.

It would be a sad state of affairs if being a Muslim (or not) prevents anyone from being elected to public office.

The difficulty is though, is that his colour and race, and his religion will always be more important than what he says or does.

In all the years that Ken and Boris were Mayors, I never heard any of those three aforementioned characteristics mentioned once.

Think you'll find that he is Mayor ONLY because he is a Muslim. He got 1.3 million votes and there are about the same number of Muslims in London so every single one of them (literally every man, woman and wee one) voted for him because he is Muslim.

They were a wee bit sneaky mind because not all of them put him down a first choice as that would have been TOO obvious so a fair few put him down as second choice.

Naomi...you can't possibly know what kind of people voted for which candidate. You may think you do, but its still just a guess.

What is 100% clear though, is that not enough people voted for the Tories.

What is also 100% clear is that if Sajid Javid stood for the Tories in the Mayoral election, he would probably still have lost, despite being a Muslim.....precisely because he was a Tory !
