According to the Guardian, it seems as if the Uk goes to the top of their list when it comes to picking a Muslim for it's capital's mayor.

Talbot...it makes prefect sense to me ....there just wasn't enough Londoners that wanted a Tory to win.
Labour won, the Tories lost....get over it !
A, It doesn't
B, I have never voted Tory in my life, You would of course know that if any of the information you have read on AB was actually retained instead of leaking away into that vast abyss inside you cranium.
Sadiq Khan is not the first Muslim mayor of a European country, and in all likeliness won't be the last.
He should be judged on what he does, not what he is.
It would be a sad state of affairs if being a Muslim (or not) prevents anyone from being elected to public office.
Khan's success is inspirational.

Think you'll find that he is Mayor ONLY because he is a Muslim. He got 1.3 million votes and there are about the same number of Muslims in London so every single one of them (literally every man, woman and wee one) voted for him because he is Muslim.
They were a wee bit sneaky mind because not all of them put him down a first choice as that would have been TOO obvious so a fair few put him down as second choice.

Indeed. Just days in office before breaking an election pledge.

//As there are fewer Muslims than non-Muslims in London, why did a non-Muslim not win?//
Because he didn’t only get the Muslim vote – he got the black vote too – white indigenous Brits being a minority group in the capital.
Mikey, stop calling people xenophobic.

Naomi...you can't possibly know what kind of people voted for which candidate. You may think you do, but its still just a guess.
What is 100% clear though, is that not enough people voted for the Tories.
What is also 100% clear is that if Sajid Javid stood for the Tories in the Mayoral election, he would probably still have lost, despite being a Muslim.....precisely because he was a Tory !
