Javid expresses my opinion perfectly. There is a lot wrong with the EU but we are better off in. Remember that if we leave the EU but still want our vital access to the single market we have to remain in the EEA (European Economic Area). The same rules of freedom of movement and labor apply within the EEA as in the EU. So we will still have just as much immigration from...

I cannot open the link in the OP because to use Telegraph articles now requires a membership subscription. Is this the end of an era?
Mikey, //I'm enjoying myself Naomi ! //

... and making yourself look a twit in the process.
What's new ?!
Not at all Naomi....you were the one that said that the Muslims and black people were responsible for winning the London Mayor race....I am merely pointing out that if that was true ( but it isn't of course ) then Javid could have won the day for the Tories.

Either the religion was a factor in the contest or it wasn't....make your mind up.
.. and so he continues. Oh dear.
There is a hell of a lot wrong with the EU and we are definitely better off OUT !

There's a hell of a lot wrong with the world. Shall we get out of there too?
^We have no choice in that one.
Zac-Master

Thanks for the link. What he has written makes perfect sense.
Question Author
The point I was making Naomi was that if those voting Out think that a brexit will be some kind of Nirvanah, then they might be in for a bit of a shock.
ZM; What sort of "shock" do you have in mind?
Question Author
Same as Mr Javid.
Zacs-Master, // if those voting Out think that a brexit will be some kind of Nirvanah...//

I don't recall any of the 'Out' voters saying that.
Question Author
It's implied.
//Today, almost 80 per cent of British jobs are part of the service sector – everything from that TV company to pensions to education.//

That need to change does it not. The taxes of 20%are allowing the non earners to thrive.

//The remaining EU nations will want to secure a deal that’s good for their economies. So Germany will want to protect its carmakers from British imports//

In one breath he tells us that it takes years to change anything and that the EUSSR collective is stability, and here he tells us that one nation at least will move with breakneck speed, and independent action, to prevent us selling cars to them whilst we of course buy their cars at even higher prices. It stinks, fear does, the sirens are wailing. Calculated lies just like accusing the Out campaigners of envisaging Nirvana, when it is the Remainians who do so,even though the last 2 decades indicate that the EUSSR is heading for hell on Earth.

I'd take more water with it Togo old chap.

Wow. I think you just proved my point old bean. Well done.
Zacs-Master, // It's implied.//

Your imagination is running away with you. Perhaps best take the advice you offered to Togo.
I really am going to get you to see through the woods, Eddie!

“Remember that if we leave the EU but still want our vital access to the single market we have to remain in the EEA (European Economic Area).
The same rules of freedom of movement and labor apply within the EEA”

No we won’t. The EEA was designed as a “waiting room” for prospective full EU members, Countries such as Norway (who could not persuade its electorate to endorse membership) and Iceland (whose government saw the light and withdrew their application) were granted EEA membership whilst they were candidate nations.

There is no requirement to be EEA members to trade with the EU. Other countries in the world have access to the single market. Incredible as it may seem, non-EU nations trade with the EU. None of them have to accept the free movement of people from the EU in order to do so. The EU would be utterly mad to deny the UK access to its markets or to impose tariffs (the rest of the EU sells far more to the UK than the UK sells to the rest of the EU). WTO regulations are perfectly able to facilitate trade deals between nations and the UK would be granted almost unchanged access to European markets.

“Also of course the UK being in or out of the EU or the EEA has no effect whatsoever on immigration from outside Europe, they will still want to come here.”

Perfectly true. However we currently control who comes here from outside the EU. The difference would be that we would also control who comes here from within it.

And now for one or two comments made by Zacs:

“Our trade still continues to grow with the EU..”

The proportion of the UK’s trade that takes place within the EU is declining , and declining rapidly (you can find the numbers quite easily). We don’t have the best of both worlds. We only have the best of the world the EU wants us to have. We cannot develop trading agreements with emerging nations – we gave up that privilege when we joined the EU. We have to wait to see what the Euromaniacs negotiate for us and simply lump it.

“Talbot, most people 'place' is clearly defined by their biased and/or uneducated rhetoric. No need for me to put any effort in.”

Not very nice in what should be a reasoned debate. Perhaps you could tell me what is biased and/or uneducated about my remarks above. In particular perhaps you could say where I am going wrong with Eddie’s remarks about the EEA and free movement as a requirement to trade with the EU. When I am told of the dire consequences of leaving the EU I dig a little bit into those allegations rather than simply accepting what I’m told. If you did the same you may draw slightly different conclusions.

But all that aside, the real reason I want the UK to quit is that the EU demonstrates an appalling democratic deficit and it will not be too long before national parliaments are reduced to fewer powers than parish councils. If you want to discuss why the EU is undemocratic I'd be pleased to do so. But please don't say "I know it's not perfect but we must stay".
