And why would someone say it with a fellow (black) Leave supporter sitting next to him?

Furthermore, if said person is going to accuse someone of this, should he not do his homework and first make sure he's accusing the correct person?

Farage showing his true colours?

Not racist colours...the colours of stupidity and bad manners?

By the way - ten second in...Dreda Say Mitchell's look of horror is meme-worthy!

I never rated Diversity. Susan Boyle should have won that year.

//My point is that at one time certain things were impossible but have since become the norm. //

Quite right Jackdaw. Like France and Germany carving up Europe between them, and Britain being subservient?

Yes, there are loads of things which were impossible that are now possible, but I don't think that female priests are necessarily a bad thing. Not sure if you mean that either though.

New Judge:

[i]Perhaps when Mr Farage said “you” he was intending it as the Royal “you”.[i]

Hmmm...I seriously think that you should avail yourself to Mr Farage's media team, because frankly, that is quite magnificent. Much better than he could have come out with.
Cheers sp! Seems to come naturally! :-)
Jackdaw, //I am not getting into a theological argument.//

Don't worry. Neither is SP. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

So Nigel Farage shouldn’t have spoken about ‘rubbing our noses in diversity’ when he was sitting next to a black woman. Why?
It does seem bizarre that the Labour party would send out of search parties with the aim of bringing more people of whatever colour to Britain to compete not for Mandleson's job, or Blair's or Brown's job but for the low paid jobs ... the jobs of the working class people ... the jobs done by people that Labour was supposedly established to represent?

Out of interest (and this is directed to those who bemoan 'diversity') - specifically, what forms of diversity upsets you? Political, class, race, sexuality, race, religion, regional, technological...?

What forms of diversity are you happy with?

Me...I don't think I would enjoy only hanging around with one type of person...I prefer to have a variety of people in my life. Is this a minority attitude?

Genuinely interested here.

Because it sends all kinds of...

Hang on. What's this about me not knowing what I'm talking about?

You're entering this debate with rudeness.

Try not to, you know where it leads.
Mandelson, Blair, Brown... seems like a lifetime away. Let's hope it is.
sp, //I literally don't understand why having a vagina would preclude you from being able to do the job as well as someone who owns a penis. //

Stating a fact is not rudeness. ^You don't know what you're talking about.
sp, //Because it sends all kinds of... //

Please continue.

Seriously naomi24 - I've just looked back at this thread, and for no reason you've tried to alter the turn to introduce a personal dig.

You can disagree without resorting to that. I'm disappointed in you.

Not that that matters, but try to keep things light - otherwise it just becomes a slanging match.

Can we agree on that?

Okay - you tell me what would stop a woman from being an effective member of the clergy.

Educate me.

And after that - let me know what other jobs women can't do.
sp, it was not a personal dig. I stated a fact and it matters not to me whether you are disappointed or not. Stop being so precious.
How many women Imams do you know?
sp, //you tell me what would stop a woman from being an effective member of the clergy. //

The Bible. Now unless you want to read it before continuing this discussion, I suggest we move on. Perhaps you could start by finishing your unfinished sentence.
Oh well..... 20 minutes and no finished sentence. Maybe he's reading the bible. Bedtime for me. Night all. x
Oh well, diversity is what makes the AB world so, er, fulfilling :)

The Bible shouldn't really be used as a guide for 20th century employment practices. If it were, then we would be allowed to keep slaves.

Furthermore, I've looked up a few more passages...apparently a number of women held important positions in the early Christian churches (Acts 1:12-14, 18:24-26, 21:7-9, Romans 16:1-16).
Question Author
naomi24

Because it sends out all kinds of...wrong messages.
Even laws get repealed, or replaced, but not all of them.
I'm sure humankind advanced enough such that God decided the keeping of slaves were no longer considered appropriate for us.
