Ali will probably be remembered as one of the greatest, maybe THE greatest boxers of all time, and why not. But he was a role model for every young black person growing up at the time in America. I listened to Rev. Jessie Jackson being interviewed on the Today Program this morning, and was amazed by what life was like for young Cassius Clay....he couldn't eat in...

Just heard on the news. He had not been well for a long time. He livened up the 60's for us, and no mistake.
RIP The Greatest
He floated like a butterfly.
He stung like a bee.
He lived like a bull.
He took on the world - and won.
Very sad news.RIP
Ali will probably be remembered as one of the greatest, maybe THE greatest boxers of all time, and why not.

But he was a role model for every young black person growing up at the time in America. I listened to Rev. Jessie Jackson being interviewed on the Today Program this morning, and was amazed by what life was like for young Cassius Clay....he couldn't eat in the same restaurants, use the local Public Library, go to the same schools, or even walk on the same side of the road as white people. And there are some in America that would bring those days back tomorrow if they could.

The struggle against this kind of naked racist behaviour was a long, hard fight
and Ali played a major part. That is what I would like him to be remembered for.
I actually met and shook hands with Ali. RIP
A very witty man. He broke the mould of the dull, monosyllabic, boxers, of yesteryear.

I liked his Vietnam War protest quote, which was right on the money.
I remember watching the greatest fight in history, live, the thrilla in manilla, 15 rounds of brutality, came down to who could throw the towel in first or last. Thank ali, RIP.
He made me laugh and I was so happy he stood up for what he believed to be right. RIP Muhammad - The Greatest!
I actually shed a tear when I read this. He, Was, the Greatest. RIP.
We have lost a legend,very sad. R.I.P
My childhood hero.
