Hopefully the press will be slower to jump on the hooligan, does any other country have a press so keen to vilify its own citizens without waiting for the facts to emerge? The DM sounds almost disappointed that the Russians have been judged at fault.
I see that UEFA now threaten to throw out the England team in the advent of any further violent scenes. The spineless English FA should tell them that if there are any more unprovoked attacks on the English fans, that we will be withdrawing from the tournament to preserve the safety of the fans who have travelled to France.
They have also threatened to boot Russia out.

Sadly, the real fans would suffer. The hooligan element would undoubtedly remain as long as possible and ally themselves with any other group in order to gorge on further violence, wherever they can find it.
It's diabolical that 80,000 opposing fans could attend a rugby match without the merest hint of even an altercation, yet any football match is an excuse for a tiny almost insignificant gang of vermin to engage in tribal skirmishes.
I stopped attending Premier League matches some 12 years ago. Always felt safe at Anfield, Goodison and Old Trafford, even in my shirt. Maine Road was dicey on occasion while Filbert St was a very scary place that I vowed I'd never return to.

So how come that football is the only (as far as I can ascertain) 'sport' that attracts such primeval behaviour? In Rugby, you can even see people enjoying a glass of beer in the stands - no trouble results. Athletics -the same. I could go on.
No, there is something very nasty at the heart of football - I will be called to order by Talbot :). I would like it to be severely restricted - if not banned for a year to let everyone catch their breaths and start again.
My grandson (6) announced to me that he liked football. He was a bit taken aback when I told him not to worry and that with a bit of luck he'd grow out of it.

There was trouble in Nice when both N Iteland and Poland fans were attacked by locals, just as happened to England fans in Marseille.
UEFA have threatened to disqualify England but it isn't going to happen. They probably had to include both countries in the statement. Sadly there's *** all chance of them disqualifying Russia too
