/// Oh, in answer to your question - yeah, I'm a Muslim. ///
Ah! That indeed explains a lot, I must remember to take this into consideration, the next time you spring to the defence of Islam, whenever that religion comes up for criticism.
But what I must ask now is "why as a gay person, can you follow a religion that is opposed so much to homosexuality, as Islam is"?

By the way, I never spring to the defence of Islam.
Not once have I done this.
I am constantly disagreeing with you, because I think you have certain attitudes that demand challenging - but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm defending Islam.
I challenge you on all the minorities you don't like.
Attack and defence are not binary.
An analogy:
If you said that West Ham supporters should be banned from all UK grounds because of the number of hooligans in their midst, and I challenged you by saying, "That surely isn't fair - look at the number of Chelsea hooligans there are...why don't you call for a ban on them?"
In that example, I'm not defending West Ham. I'm challenging your position.
Go on - look through our debates. You will NEVER see me defending Islam, because I'm ambivalent towards all religions.
When, however - people suggest that people like Sadiq Khan cannot be trusted simply because he is Muslim, then yeah - I will defend him, because he seems like a good guy. That's is defence of an individual...not of Islam.
I hope that clarifies my position.
For the umpteenth time.

just an aside .
I recall years ago asking sp1814 if he was gay .
I beleive that was the first instant that he confirmed on here that he was indeed gay .
Someone , at the time lambasted me for asking him the question .
You may ask - what has that got to do with this debate .
My answer is , nothing - it just came across my mind , just

/// Hey SP now anotheoldgit knows your muslim he may stop talking to you - he did to me when he found out I wasn't born in this country of his! ///
For your information we don't 'TALK' to each other, we just our fingers to 'TYPE'.
Anyway you recently told me to "give it a rest" and being the host that you have admitted I am, i.e. (I wasn't born in this country of his!) I never like to go against my guests wishes.

A chance for some you to sneer. Time will tell if I or the sneerers are right.
VE's predictions for the next four years:
1. Plans for new super-Mosque approved in East London.
2. Pork removed from school meals where it has not already been so (if there are any such). Justified on grounds of expense.
3. More sexually segregated meetings. This won't be "imposed"; it will be out of "respect" for the sisters who of course will "choose" to take the side entrance and sit together.
4. Banning of dogs from certain public spaces. This will be justified on health grounds. Some of you not know that Islam doesn't like dogs? Yup, dogs are ritually unclean like pigs and faeces.
5. More swimming pools having women only days. Yes, yes, this is more "respect" for the sisters.
6. More funding for "social cohesion" groups (will consist of "community spokesmen" and the like) and toothless deradicalisation programmes to be drawn up by Khan's mates in the British Council of Muslims.
7. Dance, drama and music removed from some school curriculums.
Nativity plays banned where they aren't already.
8. "Offensive" ads banned near mosques.
