Irrespective of how you voted, does anyone share my concerns about the way the Leave campaign has backtracked on pledges regarding immigration and money for the NHS? Nigel Farage described the £350 million for the NHS as a 'mistake'. I am deeply concerned that people have been misled.

Even if there was more money available to the public purse through the UK leaving the EU (which I never believed anyway - because I'd actually read through all of the figures, apparently unlike Mr F!) it will probably need to go on paying for the benefits for the 3 million (best case scenario) to 8 million (worst case scenario) people who'll become unemployed if we end up with a settlement that leaves the UK outside of the EEA. (If we get a settlement where the UK remains within the EEA the effects on employment will be far lower but then we'll have to follow the vast majority of EU rules without having a vote on any of them!)
as far as i can see, they never promised to spend an extr £350m a week on the NHS
well it is too bad quite honestly.....the die has been cast

[ people complaining about politicians lying ... I mean honestly how gullible can you get ? O and immigration wont stop either but I am gonna let you find that out yourself ]

Be aware at least 2 of the above 3 are remainiacs
for a start - none of them were able to make that promise - nigel farage isn't even an MP, and thereofre can't have any influence over how money is spent
What about the posters "Let's give our NHS the £350 million the EU takes every week"?

haha and no one can remember it was blazoned on the side of the red bus

and when sarah wollaston changed sides because of it, she got slaughtered
It was my understanding that the figure of £350m would become 'available' for spending on NHS, etc. once we had no need to be transferring it to the EU every week/month/quarter.

I don't recall being told that the entirety was going to go direct to NHS.
Whatever promises were or weren't made by either side - this quote (part of a much longer post) by SP sums it up for me.

//We'll never know which future is better because we can only live this one now//

Hope you don't mind me pinching that SP.
What's wrong with that? The pledge was not that the money WOULD be spent on the NHS, but that it COULD be. That is up to the government.
how is "let's do so and so" a promise?
I'm not a fan of Nigel but he didn't actually say it. Like he said 350 could go to NHS, schools...where ever. The NHS was an example.
... Maybe because that's exactly what it looks like? Or did I miss the asterisk that says "or not, because this figure is inflated by a factor of roughly two anyway and because strictly speaking we can't guarantee getting any of it back or that it will go specifically to this cause"?
// then we'll have to follow the vast majority of EU rules without having a vote on any of them!//

having to follow EU rules anyway in order to trade with them .... seems to be a concept too difficult for 52% of the electorate to understand
Jim...just seen that you got to the truth before me !
Let's assume it is inflated by a factor of 2.....it still means that £175m can now be spent as Britain decides rather as the EU insists.
Now I AM really confused. If we pay £350m to the EU then no longer have to pay it, surely it is our money? Or am I just economically ignorant?
No Jack...you are correct, but where the money will be spent is up to the Government of the time.

I have said this before but after the industrialization polices of the 80's and 90's, it was European money that came to our aid here in South Wales, not Westminster money.

I personally don't trust the Tories to spend at least some of that £350M on tax savings for the already well off.
all i see is the word "lets" not we promise to give...in other words money we chuck into the eussr black hole could be spent on far more worthwhile projects here in blighty...
