You can't imagine what the poor parents must have gone through. The Judge said that there was clear "intent" here...intent for what ?

Echos of the James Bulger case.
Though they are only children themselves, and nophysical harm was done, you have to ask if 3 months detention is enough?
Do we have yet again evil children? Would another 5/10 years alter the future behavior of these girls ?
They claim to have been groomed by an older man but there is no evidence of that
The sentence given was the maximum possible for this offence with offenders of age 12 and 13, It was 5 years.
But then comes the automatic 1/3rd reduction for a guilty plea which applies to every case. This drops it to 3 years 3 months. Yet another case where the judge had no option in the matter, as he explained in court.
If the judge had NOT been able to say he was sure there was 'an intent' to cause sexual abuse he would only have been able to sentence to a few months.(6 months I think) Which would have meant they would have been released immediately after the sentencing hearing due to time spent on remand.
I don't care how "undignified" it might be for a toddler ( who after all has no idea what is going on) to be put in leading reins, but if that toddler AND Jamie Bulger had been in leading reins, neither ghastly incident could have happened.
