And they are not refugees either. Those arriving here from France had an obligation to seek refuge in the first safe country they arrived in. This is certainly not the UK and almost certainly not France. They lost their status as refugees as soon as they failed in this obligation.

Yes they are unable to do so. To be carried by an airline or ferry company they have to have leave to enter in the form of a passport and visa. Those in the “Jungle” – whether “professionals with high income” or not - will be unlikely to have a passport (since they are reluctant to let the authorities know their country of origin) and so are unable to get a visa even if they were inclined to apply.

The whole of mainland Europe has lost control of its borders. The external borders with the EU are not properly policed and, thanks to the ludicrous Schengen Agreement, there are no internal borders. Those gathering in northern France are a manifestation of this. France has largely lost the ability to act in accordance with the Dublin Agreement and the UN agreement on the treatment of refugees: that is to return illegal immigrants whence they came. The UK has not but it chooses not to exercise that right.

Something is actually being done: entering England via Plymouth from Roscoff last week, we were delayed by nearly one hour while every passport was checked. The HGVs left by a different gate and so I couldn't confirm it, but I imagine they underwent a similar thorough check too.
Incidentally, there are now very long delays (at least 2 hours) at Dover while the French customs are scrutinising every vehicle leaving for France.

To the best of my understanding:-

"bigot" means uninformed, in its most literal sense. It seems to have acquired additional meanings, latterly;
"racist" has deeper connotations than merely wanting outsiders to stay off your turf; the view that one race is superior to other races has yet to be witnessed by me, in all my 5+ years of using answerbank (that said, I don't often get to see the messages which end up being deleted);
"mysogynist" brackets everything from "low opinion of women" to physical abuse, enslavement, rape and murder. There is more than one global religion which deserves the epithet.
