Yes I know there is a new government,(mostly anti to opting out) it has been a month since the vote,and we get nothing positive happening just reasons for why not,in the news every article about Europe which we are being drip fed making a lot of the people who signed to opt out are wavering,I think we should make the UK GOV aware that if something positive is not happening we will become the joke of europe (like the boy crying wolf)
What do you think we should do to make sure that the government keeps in mind that the majority of the uk voted to opt out,we have a primeminster we didnt vote in.

Whether it's sour grapes or not, it's hardly unreasonable to be disappointed at losing a key vote about our future. After all, some on the side of Brexit have held those same disappointments for 20 or even 40 years, since the last referendum on membership of the EEC/ EU. So one month (so far) isn't unreasonable. For myself I don't think I'll ever be totally rid of the notion that things would have been better had we gone the other way, whether that's a reasonable position or not, but at the very least it will take actually seeing what Brexit means in practice. At the moment I'm probably gloomier about the prospects of a decade or so of an ineffective opposition leaving no practical means to hold the government to account.

May has picked a very pro Remain cabinet. Of the 25 positions, just 7 supported Brexit.
The so called Ministers for Brexit, have been set up to fail. She is undermining them but they will take the flak when things don't work out how the Leavers want. Liam Fox at International Trade is in for a difficult time. By appointing him, May is just giving him enough rope. Daivid Davis has been appointed but then told nothing is going to happen this year.

No we did not.
Sovereignty was severely diminished due to having to take orders from the unelected EU. Global trade was limited by the EU dictating rules on that what members of the single market were allowed to do, also. And we have yet to negotiate with the EU going forward.

Not "sour grapes" I think, but the reality

A friend of mine who (to my surprise) voted to Remain put it very well, and summed up my own feeling:
"What actually is the point in leaving - we're in the EU for all its faults and doing pretty well. Leaving is bound to be a step back"
Indeed, getting one's own country "back", etc etc. Everything is a step "back". The world is moving closer together and it makes no sense whatever to try to swim against the tide. I appreciate that for many people "swimming with the tide" seems claustrophobic, dull and contrary to the spirit of "freedom", and no doubt there is a longing for the "old days" and the idea somehow we can somehow go "back" to a time which may have been more "independent" but which, frankly, was pants :-)
Immigration is here to stay, in some form or other. The govt could not control non-EU migration any more than it could EU migration, by the way.
I loved the comment by David Aaronovitch about David Davis in the Commons the other day: "Hiding his astonishment that he had been let back anywhere near government again" or words to that effect. That word "back" again :-)

There is something strange when a person bases their opinion on the assumption that, getting back to a better position, contains the word "back", so must be bad and retrograde. If one gets lost in the wood is it not a good thing to get "back" to the road ?

The 'woods' was the miriad of Laws and Procedures put in place by the E.U that UK had to adhere to despite half the other countries taking not one blind bit of notice. In a perfect world it would have been nice to remain in the E.U economically, but be allowed to close UK borders to free movement/ immigration. IF this had been possible then I think the Remain would have won by a huge majority.

We have had the long awaited referendum & we still don't really know if we will EVER leave the EU. What's all this talk about the referendum not being legal & binding. I am wondering, if we wait long enough whether the will of the people will quietly be disregarded & shelved, after all the result was NOT what our glorious leaders wanted.
