To all the Islamic sympathisers on here who often say, "we have always had killings on our streets" or "we have always had terrorism, just look at the IRA", I say this:

"That may well be, but the change from PC49 to Robo Cop, lies firmly at the door of ISLAM".

AOG - //If you are not fed by the media, how do you know what is going off around the world, or are you privileged to obtain your information from source? //

A fair question - and one that could be aimed at you, and any of the pontificators on here who speak as though appointed experts on Islam and on terrorism - not that the two are necessarily connected of course.
@andy-hughes

Youbare welcome to your opinion, for that is all it is. You dismiss ours, so we do likewise to yours.

Your expertise on Islam is based on reading the Koran, the Hadiths, or both?

Or none???
andy-hughes, //I am either mistaken or I am not mistaken, there are no degrees, //

yes there are degrees, but in this instance you are not even nearly right.
Naomi - //andy-hughes, //I am either mistaken or I am not mistaken, there are no degrees, //

yes there are degrees, but in this instance you are not even nearly right. //

You appear to continue to experience difficulty in separating your opinion from fact, so I will repeat - I am wrong in your opinion, not in fact.
only in your opinion Andy.
No, andy-hughes. You are wrong. That's a fact. If you don't believe me take the trouble to check it out before offering any more unsupported arguments.
Naomi needs to stop pretending she knows how every Muslim feels. She doesn't and that's a fact.

Absolutely no argument there.

I have no expertise - but unlike some on here, I am perfectly willing to admit that my opinion is not expertly informed - and I do so at regular intervals.

My issue is with those who hold forth as though their view is definitive, and anyone who questions or disagrees is either a fool or 'asleep' (How many times to I and others get told to 'Wake up!!!) - whereas in fact I am neither.

My view is largely media fed - as I am happy to admit - unlike some others - but I am capable of thinking and reasoning for myself based on what I see and hear, and do not set myself up as the oracle on matters of Islam and terrorism.
ummmm, I never pretend about anything, least of all to know how every Muslim feels. I talk about Islam.
'willing to admit that my opinion is not expertly informed' So how can you claim it as 'fact'?
That's how you come across Naomi.

Not to me she doesn't.
Zacs - //'willing to admit that my opinion is not expertly informed' So how can you claim it as 'fact'? //

I don't.

If I am stating an opinion, I say so, if I am stating a fact which I believe (as opposed to claiming to know beyond argument) then I will state that.

I may not do it every time, but I do attempt to make my position clear in terms of simply offering a thought, which puts me streets ahead of those who claim to know everything, and then demean anyone who disagrees with them.
andy-hughes, //My issue is with those who hold forth as though their view is definitive//

The people you have issues with here are those whose views are definitive because they are not media-fed, but emanate straight from the horse's mouth. They are not pretending anything - simply reporting what's there. I've asked this before but I'll ask it again. Islamists tell us precisely what their intentions are. They pull no punches whatsoever. Why don't you believe them?
ummmm, perhaps you fail to comprehend what I'm saying.
As technology advances, the potential for it to be used for good, or ill, increases. Therefore it is wise to match any perceived threat bullet by bullet, etc.

It's one of the reasons that the RAF no longer use Sopwith Camels.
No, Naomi, I don't, I'm not thick!
Naomi - //The people you have issues with here are those whose views are definitive because they are not media-fed, but emanate straight from the horse's mouth. They are not pretending anything - simply reporting what's there. //

I have no more evidence to believe that the righteous ones are correct than I would have to argue that the world is round. It can be stated as a fact - but there is no evidence on here to prove it.

If I choose not to take as gospel (no pun intended) the lofty pronouncements of those who set themselves up as experts, then that is my privilege, and I should not be looked down on or demeaned for exercising it.

But once again, I have been drawn into an off-thread discussion with you about something we are not going to agree on, so I will move on and return to the thread as and when an appropriate post comes in.
Andy, can you remember what you write from one minute to the next?

10.08 - 'You appear to continue to experience difficulty in separating your opinion from fact, so I will repeat - I am wrong in your opinion, not in fact.'

10.12 - 'I am perfectly willing to admit that my opinion is not expertly informed'

10.18 - Me....'So how can you claim it as 'fact'? You...'I don't.'

ummmm, I didn't suggest you are 'thick'. I'm saying you have misunderstood my posts which are not about how individual Muslims 'feel', as you claimed at 10:12, but about Islam as a religion and a philosophy.
