Not that I have any particular issue with this one. At least the women are being allowed to participate so that is something. But I think it really shows how the West has moved on with regard to freedoms for women that simply does not exist in some other cultures.

That's a clever and original conclusion: the German girls' "uniforms" are mandated, the Egyptian girls' uniforms have been chosen freely.
"The Egyptian women have the freedom from worrying about body issues...
Can't help but wonder who has the real freedom here."
"I agree with both of the posters above. The Beach Volleyball 'uniform' was designed for the viewer not the participant.".
Yes, the sort of "arguments" fundamentalist Muslims make for the oppressive dress code which their religion imposes on one half of its followers. I can't think of any honourable reason why a liberal Westerner would repeat them. Do any of you think the Egyptian sportswomen WANT to be dressed as they are?

Do the men's' beach volleyball teams were mankinis?
No.
They were baggy vest tops and mid thigh shorts.
Female volleyball players have two choices - tiny bikini or bodysuit.
Cards on the table...there's a reason why a certain number of chaps watch beach volleyball.
Sit a bloke down in front of three games...and then ask him the score of any of the games and he will shrug.
