^^ Even the earliest assessment of when we could trigger A50 is February to April 2017 so it will be 2019 before we are out.
The article states that it was expected to be triggered in 2017 but may be delayed. I took that to mean where they refer to Brexit they mean the triggering of the process. Delaying that until 2019 means out in 2021 ! Not going to happen.
The article is all about 'maybe' - purely press opinion and to me not worth discussing.
We have a general election in 2020 so if we are still 'In' by then things could change! I think that is what the plan is,delay it till the next government is in power. Then cancel it.
Wishful thinking, Eddie, wishful thinking! But knowing your views I don't blame you for it.
Article 50 has to be triggered before the next election. Simple as that. Otherwise there will be deep, deep trouble over the collapse of democracy as we know it in this country. Heseltine has already said (I heard him on R4) that the decision is not the people's, but the domain of MPs. The interviewer was somewhat taken aback and said that the people didn't seem to think that.

Brexit has to happen or there will be something akin to Civil War, i.m.o..
Heseltine is correct. Parliament is sovereign in this country.
Indeed, jno, technically correct. I don't, somehow, think that will wash with people who think their MP was elected to represent their views. At the moment we seem to have an unrepresentative parliament. Most Labour MPs are against the leader that lots of people voted for and most Tory MPs were anti-Brexit. A strange and dangerous situation. Historical precedents are not encouraging if this continues.

Very seriously, if Article 50 is not triggered before the next election I do predict huge trouble, even bloodshed, and the collapse of the current system which has served us well so far. Who knows where it may go? I don't.
Well I don't trust PM May, she says one thing, meaning something else.

She's even negotiating with Argentina, about the Falklands.

Has she already forgotten the lives that were lost there.
Well obviously NJ the longer the triggering of Article 50 is delayed the easier it becomes to wonder if it will ever happen. Having said that I thought this was putting off the inevitable until the relevant department was (at least mostly) ready, rather than a shabby delaying tactic.
It will happen or people will take to the streets.

UKIP still has work to do.
have another punnet of sour grapes sandy, it will happen, The PM said fukll steam ahead: http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/700011/Brexit-full-steam-ahead-Theresa-May-Prime-Minister-European-Union-referendum-Article-50
1rovert: "She's even negotiating with Argentina, about the Falklands" - unlikely she knows that's a vote loser anyway your evidence please.
Think the referendum was a complete waste of time and money, just like the ex pm who thought the whole idea up .
1rovert, do you think The Iron Mayden, will be starting talks with Spain to give them Gibraltar?
jim, hardly "negotiating over the Falklands" - from reading that article it seems to me that she is attempting to improve relations generally following the whole Falklands debacle.
I wouldn't interpret the source that way myself but it's the closest I could find from a 5-second search to 1rovert's claim.
well I cannot find any link that says the PM is negotiating about the Falklands. there are several that say the PM is looking to obtain better relations.
Isn't that a euphemism for "negotiate" though? Well, it might be. I'd certainly be surprised if Theresa May's definition of "negotiate over the Falklands" means "give them to Argentina against the wishes of the people who live there".
