Seems like it.
Also seems to be a massive admission of getting things wrong.
My heart goes out to them body & soul while they bunker down and lock the doors.
No doubt Tescos and the like would like our lot to do the same.
Just seems to bizarre to be true.
Not unusual, we lived in Germany in the 80s and everyone had a Keller, a cellar, racked out and stuffed with tins, packets and any other non-perishable goods. They said that it was a hang-up from the post war years when things were very scarce and the younger generation tended to do it because their parents and grandparents did. We still have some brilliant shelving units, originally sold a Kellerregale, cellar shelving, lining our garage.
They're advising them to store 5 days worth of water and 10 days worth of food.
Seems a bit odd. I would have thought only 8 days of food would suffice as you'd have probably died of thirst by then.
Food contains fluids.
/// Is the government expecting problems? ///

They have already got problems.
In my view, this is scaremongering - immoral scaremongering.
I've just spotted the tautology of my last post - never mind.
Andy....are you blind to what has been happening?

I'm not anti Muslim and I don't tar them with the same brush but you cannot deny that serious issues have been incurring since the influx of migrants.

Accepting that mass migration has caused issues is a universe away from panicking the population into a pre-Armageddon scenario.

It's immoral to frighten people like this, and can only ratchet up the tensions that are causing violence already.
So OTT, ridiculous.....
Merkel is digging in so the problem will only get worse.

If they didnt issue such warnings and a real problem cam about no doubt all those saying what rubbish would then be castigating them for not saying it.

I just hope that they are being over cautious and not in receipt of some information that could be a real problem.
When in France I learned to keep a few days supply in hand. (A week in Winter) so the idea isn't strange. If they weren't expecting problems the government would not have said this. I always have a few days in hand anyway.

Intelligence will have pinpointed a risk to water supplies etc.. Nothing has been said in UK - but I'll buy an extra half-dozen of water and keep ahead with the food.

The German banks are in trouble. If they need to sort themselves out, they will close their doors and ATM's (like they did in Greece). They could be warning the public to get in supplies when this happens.
