As far as I can see no word here on this tragedy. Devastating - literally.

//so little is left of Pescara del Tronto it is unlikely that more survivors will be found here.

It seems unlikely too that this ancient little place, that has stood for centuries, can ever be rebuilt. Hundreds of years of history ended in an instant.//

Poor, poor people. Spare a thought.

Sorry, I inadvertently posted the link twice.
Just watched BBC clip of a little girl being pulled from the rubble after 24hrs. One wonders about her family.
Utterly heartbreaking to see how everything had just crumbled, whole communities gone in moments.

Hard to put into words - as you say poor people.
It is devastating. I have been thinking of them.

Zacs-Master, me too. Poor little girl. Still got tears pricking my eyes.
Yes,a terrible tragedy.Any human loss in this way is simply dreadful but neither should the loss of historic buildings/sites be underestimated.

agchristie, I agree. An absolute tragedy in more ways than one.
@naomi

I felt sorry for the rescued dog, of all things. It looked like it had lost the will to live; not remotely thankful for being rescued having, presumably, lost its owner.

It was cruel luck that it happened in the middle of the night (I was awake and it was a breaking news item, at first) and I fear the final toll will be much higher than the initial assessment.

I am keeping in touch through my friend Rudina who lives in Italy. Not too near the epicentre, but near enough to feel the house shake and worried about the after shocks.
Terrible news : (
