Theresa May had it much tougher than she had imagined at the G20.

As others have said, there was a lot ‘ promised’ by both sides, who weren’t in a position to promise anything. I suspect that when Brexit happens some of those who voted to leave will feel that they were promised more than are actually going to get. Some who are claiming to know what Brexit should mean seem to be setting themselves up for disappointme nt...

chairoscuro. You obviously do not know how the implementation of A50 works !
Once the 'exiting state' instigates A50 the European Council will meet WITHOUT the representative of the exiting state being present!
Then the EU Council (Without the Uk !) decide under what terms the 'exiting state' can actually leave. The EU will only include those parts of the treaty which they are prepared to compromise on in the 'deal' offered. Things like 'freedom of movement' are a basic reason for the existence of the EU so those parts can not be included in any 'offer' they make us. The PM is starting to realise this, which is why she is now talking about a total exit from the European Free Trade Zone in addition to just getting out of the EU.
Before you say ''then we just walk away from the EU and go our own way''
You need to realise that doing will prove that we can not be trusted to abide by any trade deals. It will make it impossible to agree any independent trade deals with the rest of the world as no one will trust us!

usual h0r5e s41t3 from eddie. when we invoke A50, 2 years from then we will be out of the EU, end of, if the EU want to have a meeting fine. We don't have to do a deal, we don't need a deal. We stop the DD, and start from there. if the countries of the EU want trade deals to sell their wares we'll talk, simples.
"You need to realise that doing will prove that we can not be trusted to abide by any trade deals. PMSL, and the EU that has not been able to find an accountant bent enough to sign off the accounts for 20 years will be trusted will it? Right oh!
Nobody suggested that the UK leaving the EU would be a smooth ride. You cannot unravel 44 years of interdependency without a few hiccups along the way. But:
“…as President Barack Obama said the UK would not be the priority for a US trade deal”
I don’t know what the fuss is about. Neither the UK nor the EU has ever had a trade deal with the US. The latest attempt for an EU:US deal (which has been under negotiation for about ten years or more) is all but dead in the water. Yet the US trades perfectly well with the UK and the rest of the EU. But now suddenly, having allegedly been placed at the back of the queue for something we’ve never had, and – along with the rest of the EU – something we’re unlikely ever to have (unless we negotiate our own version) it seems we’re stuffed. Our leaving the EU – especially now that the EU:US deal has collapsed – should make absolutely no difference.
“The EU as a whole is the biggest single market in the world. The UK's imminent departure won't change this.”
It certainly will. Apart from the smaller “single market” that will ensue from the UK’s departure, the remainder of the EU is in decline – some would say terminal decline. There are plenty of figures available to illustrate this and I cannot be bothered to provide them.
There is no doubt that the EU has inflicted enormous damage on the UK and the other 27 nations. The UK has decided that it will no longer tolerate that damage. There will be troubled times ahead but continued membership is not in the UK’s best interests. Nobody can say with any degree of certainty what a post Brexit UK will look like but one thing is for sure – whatever disadvantages follow they cannot be any worse than those currently inflicted by our EU membership. The likes of Japan should ask themselves whether they would be prepared – for the sake of “free trade” - to tolerate the sort of impositions that the UK has to put up with as part of its EU membership.

Don't you get sick of going over the this same drivel week after week. Is it really necessary to read a 'news' item and interpret it to your liking, then go to the ends of the earth to try to prove your point particularly when the original article was only ifs, buts and maybe's That' my last on this topic.
I'm confused what you mean by "something remainers claimed leavers suggested". I can accept that it was never, strictly speaking, 'promised', but there was a strong indication that it was a likely future intention based on plastering it all over the sides of the buses, on campaign posters and literature, etc. The small print revealed that the actual proposed use(s) of the money were more varied. But it's simply not OK to allow people to get away with the sort of "LET'S DO THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (by which I mean possibly, as it's unlikely that I, in making this bold statement, will ever be in a position to implement it, and anyway the figure on which I based this declaration of intent is somewhat dubious)."
It was basically a high school council "free school dinners for all" level of campaigning.

Jim you know full well that the Brexiters were not in a position to promise all that money to the NHS.
So why keep banging on about it?

Somewhat akin to the assertions that, unemployment will soar, the currency will collapse, house prices will plummet, illegal immigration will double, security will become non existent, cheap flight will cease, mobile phone charges will rise( that one was aimed at the vacuous youngsters), holidays abroad will not be possible, the National Health Service will collapse, the armed forces will be overwhelmed by a new and exciting EU super force, etc. etc. etc. That was trotted out non stop by the Remainiacs including people who had no right to even comment, never mind issue threats and warnings. Obama and most of the EU pyramid scheme beneficiaries included.
