The DM has always mounted a massive campaign on this case and their efforts will be unceasing until all the gang members are brought to justice.
The paper's headline in '97 naming the gang members and challenging them to 'sue us' was a clear indication of how far the DM was going to go to.Confidence in that bold tactic was underlined when none of the suspects did sue.
Since then of course, two gang members were convicted following advances in DNA techniques and now that a sixth possible gang member was possibly involved this case is not going to go away yet.
It is somewhat strange that 23 years later that this information has come to light don't you think?

the investigating o officer did not know the rules on arrest ( suspicion v certainty )
dwayne thingey wasnt looked on a valuable witness but instead as a complete pain in the arriss

I'm not sure how much significance the bagstrap will prove to have.It was found near the scene, which could mean anything.DNA is easily transferable and the sample extracted may not even belong to the owner who may not even have been at the scene.
As I mentioned, the police will want to trace the handler but since three clear suspects have not even been prosecuted, despite the high profile status,I don't hold out much hope that any progress will be made.
