How many times is the Daily Mail going to gasp and point at Ronnie Wood for fathering a baby in his late sixties.

Surely the 'novelty' has worn off by now? It has for me!

What do you think?

Old_Geezer - // ne can choose which love interests to follow up. //

Fortunately that kind of 'duty' is restricted to member of the royal family - the rest of us are not bound by such nonsense.

//One can choose not to turn the page, especially if one is a masochist, but still, who cares ? The option's still available. //

If you read my most at 09.36, you'll see that 'one' indeed turn the page.

You're not the Duke of Kent by any chance are you?
Andy > Any man would want to have children with the woman he loves, and although I wouldn't personally embark on parenthood at my age (61)

Really? AOG is an octogenarian and he explained last week he's all for efficient use of the old truncheon and no cuffs!

:)
I can't see the problem. Millions of children are raised successfully by single parents and if Ronnie Wood does happen to pop his clogs his offspring will be better provided for than most.
Being responsible is not a duty you need to feel bound by. Not sure I'd describe it as nonsense though.
Absolutely agree ^^

The child will want for nothing.
That was to Naomi...
The issue is that whilst one might be able to cope when unforeseen circumstances occur, it is not something one should deliberately risk by not considering one's age. But I'm sure the money will be a great comfort to the kids should the worst occur.
I don't really see it as a 'risk', OG. Ronnie Wood could live for another 20 or 30 years. Life is for living.
My friend died in his 20's leaving behind a young child.

My granddad lived to 87 and his older sister is still alive.

You can't predict these things. Having two loving parents is ideal but not essential.
True, but it's the odds isn't it. With an average lifespan of around 81 these days having kids in one's thirties gives an expectation you'll be there for them until they're about 50, plenty of time in hand to be around until they're adults; and young enough to cope well with demands. Much less certain if someone is in their late 60s. There has to be a point when it isn't fair on the offspring any more.
OG - there is more to parenting than being able to kick a football about. Just think of all the stories he could tell, how interesting he could be.
I think it's far more fair to be born to a rich older parent than a young single alcoholic/drug addict parent with absolutely no prospects beyond a life on benefits - anyone seen the horrific story of the toddler found dead in the Mail this morning?
Ah, about drugs & groupies ? :-)
'What if' is no way to live.
Not considering the future isn't either.
You leave out the bad stuff, OG....

OG, indeed, but whatever happens to him, financial security for his children is well and truly assured. Few young parents can claim that for their children. I doubt you would say that, faced with such uncertainty, they should think again.
Some years ago, I read an article by a journalist who had a much older father. She mentioned all the things we've talked about here. She concluded with saying that she was glad she had been born.
I think Ronnie's twins will also be glad they were born, when they're old enough to think about it. Who cares about his age?
Ummm there is more to parenting than being able to kick a football about.

Like what????????

Seriously though I'm inclined to agree with what OG is saying.

I did skip past this over breakfast today, but it caught my eye on the on-line sidebar, you know, the one that constantly refers to 'toned tummies', 'side-boobs' 'endless legs' - and other such sub-1960's titillations.

I quickly got bored with the Ronnie story and clicked on ...

//EOTB's Holly Rickwood goes braless under scanty red dress for night out... after showing off her incredibly peachy posterior in totally NUDE snap//

Is that an apple between her legs?
