For those wondering what he intends to do in the future, he assured his audience that he will remain in politics but is now going to begin to speak his mind. All I can say is watch out politics!!

Whether anyone loves or loathes Farage,the political world needs characters like him to challenge and effectively oppose the status quo (something the Labour Party have failed to do for some time).

It can only be a good thing that he sticks around and gets under the skin of politicians at home and in Europe.

Of course,the cynics will repeat his failure to win a constituency and that UKIP only has 1 MP,but that far from tells a story about a principled and formidable speaker who has stood up to his critics and the EU cronies.

David Cameron and others have bowed out with their tail between their legs and achieved very little.Farage,however,has got the bit between his teeth and is on the crest of a wave.

He has a considerable amount of backbone and whether we like him or not we should be grateful for characters like him in politics who are not afraid to stand up and be counted.

I was amused by the rather rueful response of a UKIP member when asked if the party could survive without the Great Man: 'He's not like any other politician' ... he almost added 'in UKIP' : and that's their problem. A bit like the one Yuvoslavia had when Tito departed ... Let's just hope they applied only to UKIP and not UK

UKIP's survival without the 'Great Man' isn't an issue. Mr Farage said he will remain in politics and will continue to give the party his full support.

Diane James is a completely different character to Farage,unflashy and perhaps dour,but UKIP itself will be business as usual.
