Neither does Ed Ball's missus, apparently.

/// Yvette Cooper, the chair of Labour’s refugee task force also urged the PM to resettle 500 lone child refugees before Christmas and to ensure that no child is left alone in Calais's "Jungle" camp during the festive season. ///

In one sense I agree with them both.. The target should be zero.
I am not sure how lone children get to be there.
If they are taken in does that mean we'll then have to allow the families?
Why 500? Why not 50 or 5000?
Why does someone's who has no say in what happens gets their views aired on the media .So miliband has an opinion so what ,we all have but keep it to our selves as not to inflame the situation .

I'll wager that none of these children in Calais 'Jungle Camp' know what Christmas is.

Anyway why can't the French government see that they have an enjoyable festive season, perhaps they should send them to Lapland?
I'm still waiting for Pixie Balls-Cooper to take a few in herself as she said she would.
//ensure that no child is left alone in Calais's "Jungle" camp during the festive season.//

the great and the good who are urging us to do more for migrants at Calais are the same great and good who would seek to abolish Christmas just in case it offends them. very few, if any of the current occupants of the jungle observe what we call "the festive season" - why should december 25th be an important date in terms of moving them anywhere?
