Last month, we found out that being a professional psychologist lying flat on the ground doesn't stop bullets, and now being a pastor with hands raised doesn't work either:

As these gentlemen weren't gangsters, exactly what should black people do now?

They are unnecessary FF.

Should everyone post a link from their favourite news source to the same story?

Those who referred to lack of training to attend to such situations should read Tony's link.

Pastor's left hand reaches through car window, believed to be on drugs, at least one piece of evidence from helicopter suggests non-compliance...

Interesting times ahead....

Agchristie....there is very little evidence that he put his hand through the open window, as the window was closed at the time. The Officer was able to ascertain that he "was on drugs" despite her not being close enough to tell !

Very interesting times ahead, as you say !
It seems a bit quick. An exercise in damage limitation perhaps?
Naomi, maybe. The availability of evidence seems plentiful.

I suspect that the examination of those facts will take considerably longer.

Mikey, with regard to the car window, those were the words of the officer's attorney.
ag, //I suspect that the examination of those facts will take considerably longer. //

Exactly. So why has she been charged already?
Agchristie.... Mandy Rice Davies comes to mind when considering what the Officers Attorney has to say !
Naomi > Exactly. So why has she been charged already?

It is a good point. The naive will jump to conclusions and state that the rapid response must be an indication that she must be guilty.
ag, it appears they already have. ;o)

Haven't read through this long thread, but I have been stopped by the cops, - carrying guns as is normal here - for routine checks a couple of times recently and did exactly what they told me to do; show ID and papers, get out of the car and take a breathalyser test - all clear, "have a nice day" etc. and on my way.
When it comes to cops with guns, it's best to do exactly as asked.
Khandro, doing as you're told is a valid point but in the American police programmes shown on TV I've often noticed all the police at a scene are shouting conflicting and confusing orders. The suspect, not certain which order to follow, generally does nothing and the police see this as noncompliance and react accordingly.
Open and shut case.
If the car window was open and he did reach indside she has a chance of walking away a free woman, if closed she is in trouble.

/// If the black motorist had shot the Police Woman, instead of the other way around, then I am not sure anybody on here would be suggesting that he was in any way innocent. ///

Of course he wouldn't be innocent, civilians don't usually go around shooting anyone least of all police officers.

Yet it is all part of a policeman's job for sometimes having to use the weapon that they were issued with, that is the whole idea of the need for them being issued.
Talbot > Open and shut case.
If the car window was open and he did reach indside she has a chance of walking away a free woman, if closed she is in trouble.

It is not that simple. She has a chance of 'walking away a free woman' irrespective of the car window evidence. Guilt does not solely rest on that issue.

Her actions will be determined based on all the factors on the ground and guidance from the air.

Of course, the officer's own evidence and credibility will be placed under very close scrutiny but her actions were influenced, not only by her reading of the situation, but the demeanour of the deceased and commentary from the helicopter and colleagues.

/// Are you really so narcissistic that you would think someone would hang around on AB to (as you say) have a "dig" at you? Wow! That is pretty egocentric. ///

Oh dear, you failed to take my advice and have a cup of cocoa and get some earlier nights, 00.35 in the morning and I am still on your mind.

It is plainly obvious that is just what you did, the evidence is there for everyone to see, except of course by you through those failing rose tinted glasses that you wear.

/// It played on my mind so much that I forgot that I'd actually posted it, but thanks for re-posting it :-) Hence this reply. ///

Yes as I pointed out at the time, the effects of whatever substance you may have consumed may have have taken their full effect, hence the failing memory.

AOG, I fail to see what time of day/night someone posts is actually relevant - also your repeated accusation that someone is using 'substances' as you phrase it is wholly unnecessary.
>They are unnecessary FF. Should everyone post a link from their favourite news source to the same story?

Seems a bit odd, Talbot, to have a go at someone for posting a relevant link. I recall you posting numerous posts having a go at me for not watching a link on your thread about the Glashow Muslim shopkeeper trial.

It seems to me you are being selective in who you choose to make digs at-just those who doesn't share your views perhaps?
> Should everyone post a link from their favourite news source to the same story?

I sometimes add a new link relating to the same story. Reason being that a different (and sometimes more insightful) version helps to form clarity.
