I think industry is missing out on geniuses who are prepared to challenge the norm, try to make others see a different view, be pioneers and above all, be creative.
The elements weren't discovered by Googling them in a smart shirt. The real geniuses in our history were "freaks" in their own wayjust like tattooed people are today.Isaac Newton was tapped! They are just expressing it their imagination in their way. Who are we to judge anyone for their appearance. Yes, that man is an extreme example, but he doesn't look like he's doing too badly on it does he?

Divebuddy, to a genius that would be fine. Someone else with a brain a tattooed genius is more happy to work with will soon come along.
Obviously, tattoos done with a biro and sewing needle, or love and hate and a swastika on your knuckles does not show many signs of genius, but if that's the kind of tattoo you have, there are likely to be other factors in you not getting the job. The point is, if you want to dismiss tattoos across the board, it's your choice for now but you might be turning down a real asset and that makes you the fool, not them.

Maybe Divebuddy but I don't think a true genius would see it as their loss. They would be more likely to see it as a chance gained rather than an opportunity wasted on something that didn't meet their intellect.
Geniuses can be quite narcissistic historically.

Maybe not in the short term Divebuddy, but let's not forget that we are talking about geniuses here, not idiots who think they are.
Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Isamabard Kingdom Brunel, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Charles Darwin and my personal favourite Richard Feynman were all "out there". Didn't seem to do them any harm.

True Divebuddy. I agree, being super intelligent is not a guaranteed path, however if you are super intelligent and tattooed, you really are sticking your head above the parapet, so you'd better be good at what you do.
I know this is true, but I'd rather people where viewed on their merits rather than their choice of attire.
Like I said, anyone who has tattoos and conforms to the stereotype will soon show themselves up in other ways. The intelligent tattooed shouldn't be dismissed because of a cartoon view of who they are.
