or a small fine, for this loud mouthed ***?

If he is preaching like this in public, what's he saying in his Mosque?

What form of community service would you suggest he is assigned if convicted? Perhaps he will get sentenced to jail and serve time at North Sea Camp open prison, it has a prison farm with 650 pigs to be looked after! They always have jobs 'shoveling pig s**** ' available for inmates at £3.50 a day !

fiction-factory , I haven’t made assumptions about you but I’ve clearly touched a nerve.

//Is there anything I have said about this street preacher case that you disagree with//

Yes. I question your refusal to believe that the law deals leniently with Muslim offenders.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9253250/Rochdale-grooming-trial-Police-accused-of-failing-to-investigate-paedophile-gang-for-fear-of-appearing-racist.html
I think you are confusing "refusal to believe" with asking whether there is evidence that the courts don't deal with cases like this in a proper manner simply because of fears of being called racist.
I do hope that social services keep a close eye on his unfortunate child.
fiction-factory, I don’t think the courts would acknowledge handing down lenient sentences specifically for fear of being deemed racist, but they are often overly sympathetic towards Muslim offenders – and that emanates from the misguided but generally held belief that we must‘ show tolerance towards people from other cultures - specifically Islam. One example is that of an 18 year old who raped a 13 year old girl and was spared prison because his Muslim upbringing did not teach him to respect women. Personally, I don’t believe that this man was dealt with in what you call ‘a proper manner’. Do you?

Yes there were complaints about the way that case was reported. Maybe the Christian Post is not the best place to gather all the facts.
Although the sexual activity was consensual she was a minor it was indeed statutory rape that he was charged with.
But although his defence lawyer used arguments about his Muslim/school upbringing the judge didn't accept he didn't know the law.
The reasons given for not sending him to prison were "because he was naive and borderline juvenile and may be abused in a jail" and not because his muslim upbringing did not teach him to respect women.
He wasn't let off though- Judge Stokes sentenced him to nine months youth custody, suspended for two years, along with a two-year probation supervision order

What a disgrace.

Preacher avoids jail
He has been handed a community order of 24 months which will include a rehabilitation activity requirement targeting anger management.

He will also receive a six month curfew between 7pm and 7am.
Thanks for the update. I recall that a community service outcome was expected, presumably based on the outcomes usually given for cases of this type bearing in mind his past record. Hopefully the sentence will be effective and he will come out a changed man as I said earlier but I wouldn't be surprised if we hear of him again
Well, we can but hope some good will come of it - I think hard core anger management is the least he needs.
fiction-factory, //I do hope you’re not suggesting the Christian Post is reporting less than honestly! It was reported by mainstream newspapers – and as far as I recall they reported similarly - but not knowing the headlines used I’ve no idea what to search for. Since you appear to know more about it perhaps you can provide a link? All of that aside, the fact is that this man used in his defence the fact that he was Muslim and the sentence meted out to him was not reflective of the usual four- to seven-year prison sentence.
'hard core anger management' wont work for a fanatical muslim I'm sure.

Sorry, naomi- I regard myself as a bit of an expert on all things Islam and sometimes forget that others may not be fully up to speed.
I think if you google his name , ignore the ones about a cricketer with the same name, and ignore all the anti-Muslim papers which ran their version of this you'll find some reports that cover the other aspects.
I am busy tomorrow but if you still haven't found anything I'll have alook for you later in the week.
Not that it matters- it's only one story so proves nothing either way. I found an even more surprising stories about a non-muslim who didn't get a prison sentence when the victim was a toddler, although that was in the US.
Doubt it db.
fiction-factory, if you’re an expert on Islam you’re regarding yourself through rose-coloured spectacles. Your claim – your responsibility to provide support for it - but I won't hold my breath.

I'd rather you find it yourself, naomi- that's the best way to learn- but it's your choice and no skin on my nose if you'd rather remain in ignorance of the facts.
fiction-factory, I could be forgiven for thinking you're ducking out of this - but what's new? ;o)
If I posted it now you might think I was gloating, naomi. Maybe our toing and froing on this thread has gone on for too long now

'The eternal optimist'
I don't know if there is such as thing as 'hard core anger management' but I don't envy whoever is taking the role of counselling him in that regard - he is extremely 'pumped up' with belligerence.
