Common sense at last, they run a business if you bake a cake in Liverpool colours does not mean that you support Liverpool!
They were in the wrong and its about time the accepted it.

Obviously you, and I, and indeed anyone, is able and welcome to speculate about exactly how the discrimination laws were broken in this case, but the justice system is sufficiently satisfied that they were broken to convict, and then to refuse an appeal.

Ludwig, your suggestion that sexuality wasn't explicitly stated is correct, but it was implied inasmuch as the bakery (and its owners) were "Christian" and opposed to same sex marriage, as has been the northern Ireland assembly.

divebuddy - //Ludwig is quite right. The court of appeal specifically said that they accepted that the bakery did not refuse the order because the customer was homosexual. They were discriminating against the message on the cake and that is their "crime". And that is ludicrous. //
You can put the word "crime" in inverted commas, it doesn't mean it is suddenly not a crime - only that it should not be a crime in your opinion along with your opinion that the crime is ludicrous.
And the law does not take account of opinions.
