What appears to have occurred here is that this couple were so chock full of religious bigoted indignation, that they had to make sure that the customer knew exactly why his cake fell below their own personal lofty standards, and in doing so they royally chased their quarry over a cliff and paid the price for it.
Except they didn't - their religious supporters did the paying for them.
All they have to do is examine the morality of their actions - and I would guess that won't take long.
Sound reasonable.
