I you don’t mind me saying so, mm, you seem very easily upset. I first noted your “devastation” at the announcement of the death of Pete Burns. I’ve never heard of him. You must have known him very well for his death to have such an impact on you.
And now this. Your sadness is misplaced. These people (who, as has been mentioned, are predominantly – though not exclusively - fit young men) have been living, from choice, in appalling conditions, many of them for some time. They are where they are because they seek to enter the UK illegally by any means they can muster. Their presence has made much of the locality around Calais a virtual no-go area, has caused havoc with cross-channel transport and has devastated (in the true meaning of the word) many a small business there. The French have now, very belatedly, decided enough is enough and are bussing them to more suitable locations so that they can claim asylum in France or return whence they came. They are being done a favour and there is no need to feel sorry for them.
