Girl, 11, Sexually Assaulted By Boys Aged Under 10 In Teddington Cemetery
Answers
When these stories appear the usual outcry is that "it has always happened." Yes, girls have been sexually assaulted in the past, but i cannot recollect any media announcement that the attackers were "under 10 years of age" form my memories dating back to the lat 1940's.

AOG, it must be evident to you that the historic sexual offences against children that have been investigated and prosecuted recently were not reported at the time, even though the abusers were adults.
When both the offender and victim were children, if the parents did find out nothing was done - it certainly didn't get in to the papers. If it was reported to the police it was often sorted out by a 'talking to'.

/// When I was seven I recall a boy friend asking me very matter of factly if 'I wanted to have it off', this would have been the seventies. ///
/// When I was a kid it was brushed under the carpet as playing Drs and Nurses or you show me yours and I'll show you mine. ///
Perhaps in a previous "you show me yours and I'll show you mine" examination, he had noticed that this particular girl was different from him, so he was just asking you EcclesCake if you also wanted to have it off?

The statistics on Child-on-Child sexual abuse is very sketchy and it is only recently such figures were collated under this heading.
I agree it we could natch the figures of decades ago then today's figures may well be higher largely due to the more open society and access to so much on the TV,Internet etc.
Children often emulate what they see adults do and as we know some grow up in unsatisfactory places with not enough support and guidance.
As stated, it sounds like these particular boys were copying what the older males do which is a long held and yes, distasteful tradition.

ummmm
/// AOG, you're being childish. In the far off days you didn't have 24 hour news and the internet with slots to fill. ///
Less of the 'childish' insults.
With out this modern technology, don't you think that such crimes would be headline news in the newspapers, radio, and cinematic news?
Why even with today's 24 hour rolling news, even some murders are not reported on.

Cut and paste job from me:
Children under 12 cannot be prosecuted in court in Scotland, but those aged 8 and over can be referred to the children’s hearings system on offence grounds.
The minimum age of prosecution was set at 12 through changes in the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010. That change has worked well, though it has not ended discussion about the age of criminal responsibility.
