I met this lady, briefly, and few years ago, and this couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Congratulations to her and the Church in Wales !

Its got nothing to do with being an atheist......
My lady friend is a retired C-in-W Vicar.
I used to work for an organisation that had close financial ties to the RBCW.
Last, but not least. I am glad that a lady has at last been chosen to be a Bishop.
Women comprise a large proportion of the working Clergy in the Anglican Community and nice to see one of their kind being recognised in this way.
Its been a long hard slog, against some very well organised misogyny.

The RBCW ( Representative Body of the Church in Wales ) first had Women Deacons in 1980, 5 year ahead of England.
There is still a lot of prejudice against women Clergy in Britain......good old fashioned misogyny, although it is gradually receding. This new move will move the whole affair much further forward, and is to be welcomed.

Tilly...people like that have lost the argument, as can be seen from today's news.
The following is an interesting link, which helps to see how the argument is being lost all over the world :::

Tilly, without getting into it too deeply the Christian church was founded on the teachings of St Paul (who never met Jesus). He said that women should not speak in the church, but should remain silent. That is why the Catholic church (the original from which all others sprang) has never appointed women priests. The protestant churches now ignore that rule.
