How can you ignore it? As I've said in answering your Q to me on my post, a LEGAL RULING (not dilly-dallying) has changed the whole landscape of Brexit.
I can see your frustration as a leave voter but, as I've said countless times, the legality of Brexit was never 100% nailed-on and this was evident prior to the vote.
The legal ruling is about debating A50 and approving it in Parliament. Nothing to do with respecting the original decision. so that is a separate issue. i am trying to determine if remainers are willing to ignore the result to get their own way.
You see TTG gets it..... Gawd help us, the remianers are as slippery as greased eels! you can't get a straight answer to a straight question out of them.
The referendum should be ignored. It was just a glorified opinion poll.
If parliament always implemented what the majority want, we would have capital punishment, no income tax, and a speed limit of 90mph.
When did those of us who voted to stay become "Remainiacs" (which sounds slightly mad and obsessive) ... and those who voted to leave become "Brexiteers" (which sounds bold, and swashbuckling)?
You're not asking a straight question tho are you. I can't answer whether I think that 'ultimately' the result should be implemented as we're in a great state of flux. Your question from yesterday Tora:
will you answer a straight question zacs:
Do you think the result of the referendum should be respected?
My reply:
I thought that was patently obvious and I hadn't realised you'd asked me that direct. No I don't. Straight enough answer?
I respect your honesty JJ but referendums are rare and they should be respected. Those other subjects have not and should not be the subjects of referendums. I agree mostly that we elect the government to govern but when a question of fundamental destiny is put to the people it should be respected. So you are prepared to ignore the democratic will of the people, is that just because you personally disagree with them?
ZM: well silly me I thought your answer "No I don't" was to my question "Do you think the result of the referendum should be respected? " - talk about wriggle!
OMG. Your asking me the same questions as yesterday. I answered:
I don't give a fig whether the public respect my view. My view is irrelevant.
Tora- it's just a simple matter of believing that the law should be upheld really. It's as simple as that. Stop trying to make it personal.
I then went on to say:
I Want to ignore the will of the people because the process of the result has been (subject to an appeal or two) proven to be unfounded in law thereby making the will of the people irrelevant. I've said this around half a dozen times now on here.
Do you have any comment on my link to the eversheds info from befrore the vote, or does that not fit in with your utopian idealistic viewpoint?
well that is at least a constructive explanation of your flawed position JJ. The young can re join when the inconvenient old have died off. The problem is though that the whole EU is like the Titanic and brexit was the ice berg. It'll will inevitably sink so they won't have anything to join.
