Germany's Finance Minister Presses For A 'german Islam'
//Despite the rising number of xenophobic attacks in Germany, Schaeuble said he believed the majority of Germans would say: "Yes, we want you to belong to us."//
A man who doesn’t understand that Islam doesn’t embrace patriotism - nor that Islamists are saying exactly the same thing about the Germans.

This report from October didn’t make the headlines, but it should have done. Are Europe’s leading politicians really so blind to reality?

He is an extremely articulate intellectual, brought up as a Muslim, (in fact, his father is an imam) but now has a fatwa placed on him and requires round the clock police protection.

N.J. //Not exactly what you’d call entirely successful, then, in his quest to see Germany “…develop a "German Islam" based on liberalism and tolerance,”//
I shall take that as a statement of fact, rather than a cynical comment. He is after all, courageously speaking out at grave risk to himself, on your behalf, for what you believe in.

“I shall take that as a statement of fact, rather than a cynical comment.”
It was both, Khandro.
“He is after all, courageously speaking out at grave risk to himself, on your behalf, for what you believe in.”
He’s certainly not speaking on my behalf. I don’t believe in, or have any wish to see a “ ‘German Islam’ based on liberalism and tolerance,”. I don’t wish to see any version of Islam in Germany or anywhere else in Europe. This is particularly so bearing in mind that the version of Islam that Herr Schaeuble is an impossibility.
I know a few “peaceful” Muslims as well, jourdain. They don’t go around blowing people up or beheading infidels. But the religion they adhere to still teaches the subjugation of and discrimination against women and an abhorrence of gay people, not to mention the complete intolerance of any other religion or, for that matter, of people who have no religion at all. Peaceful they may be but they share beliefs that I so not want to see embedded in the UK or anywhere else in Europe.

“Whatcha gonna do, shoot em?”
I realise my aim will not be achieved, Khandro. But you asked so I answered. I’ve no wish to harm Muslims. It’s their religion with which I take issue. Of course I realise that most of them are so devout that this almost amounts to one and the same. But I believe their religion has no place in Europe. It values are simply incompatible with those of the West. For their part, Western nations have bent over backwards in the name of “multiculturalism” to accommodate a culture which is totally at odds with their own and are now reaping the rewards of that folly.
I note that you suggest “Unless Islam can reform, we are all heading for disaster.” I believe you are correct but I would make two observations:
1. Islam will not reform. It is what it is and it will not change to suit the western countries many of its followers now inhabit.
2. It is not just “Islamic fundamental extremism and its agenda to dominate the West.” that is the problem. That is just the extreme manifestation of this pernicious religion. The foot soldiers – the “peace loving Muslims” of which everybody speaks – follow the same teachings and their aim is the same: to see Europe as a Muslim continent which, eventually, will have no tolerance of any Infidels. It will take time, but not as long as some people think. And the effect of that will be every bit as profound.

Keyplus > Some time I do wonder that Naomi may lose her job if there is nothing to talk about Islam or Muslims.
Naomi will no doubt speak for herself but a few observations from me...
Naomi's speciality concerns religious matters so you would expect much of her input to include a proportion of Islamic affairs. Islam dominates religious discussion in that topic and News and has done so for some time such is the depth of feeling among many AB'ers and on other discussion forums.
Secondly, Naomi is a regular contributor to other non-religious discussions.
Whether you agree with her assertions or not, this place would lose a valuable asset if she elected to call it a day.
Finally, what 'job' is she meant to hold on here?

Naomi > However, more importantly, I trust you and the other contributors here have noticed that he hasn’t contradicted or denied the content of the OP.
Absolutely. Attack is the best form of defence for some instead of offering sound logical arguments.
Keyplus's comments add nothing to the discussion. I still wonder why there is a dearth of Muslims on AB. Instead we have unworthy substitutes who seem to miss the rather obvious crux of the situation as highlighted by New Judge, yourself and others in the past.
Why is it so hard to comprehend??

Khandro - No I have not deserted anyone, however I have stopped wasting my time on certain people and certain subjects.
Having said that you must understand that this extreme version has nothing to do with Islam and therefore its not Islam that needs making amendments, its in fact those powers who are behind this sort of Islam. We all know who have been creating these fringe groups but we just do not want to admit. So start admitting and it will start disappearing. There is no other way.
