One of the reasons I voted to leave the EU was foreign intervention in the UK I would also vote no for the UK to become the 51 state of the US. Whatever appointments Donald Trump wishes to make in the US is up to him it is not for him to suggest who should be the Ambassador
The UK ambassador’s job is to defend UK interests in US, not US interests in UK.

// Mikey, rabid racism and rabid right. Gosh, there's a lot of 'rabid' going on here this morning.//
hey golly gosh I dont think human to human transmission of rabies has been described so its been getting around somehow !
no one so far has pointed out that the sender names the ambassador ( an honest man sent abroad to lie for his country ) that would be Her Maj and not the "sendee" in this case the prez

Why on Earth would Farage call Obama 'loathesome'?
Honestly, I don't get that.
Was it because Obama suggested that America would prefer trading with the EU bloc?
Not something that really deserves the sobriquet 'loathesome'.
In my head, saying that you can sexually any woman because you're rich and famous is probably closer to loathesome.
But back to Farage - would he make a good ambassador? In all likelihood - yes.
Whatever your opinion of him, you cannot doubt his sincere love for Britain and that he would put our interests first on the world stage...
...however, there's a problem. Being an ambassador is a pretty complex job. Say if Farage became the British ambassador in the US - Farage is not a sophisticated Christopher Meyer type. I would worry about Farage's relative inexperience at state level.

But wasn't President Obama referring specifically to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership?
That's a trade agreement between the US and EU.
If the UK is no longer in the EU, then with respect of that preferential trade agreement, the U.K. isn't in the back of the queue - they're not in the queue at all.
Still not seeing loathesome in that.
Tell what does seem a bit loathesome is when a rich businessman claims that the police and courts got it wrong when the innocent Central Park Five were released and it was proved conclusively (DNA evidence from the real attacker) that they were 100% innocent.
Seems quite loathesome.
