In my days working for National Rail I remember that Dawlish was always a problem area.

I once lived just beside the area of the railway line in Dawlish that always got damaged by the high tides and got washed away just a couple of years back, most likely the same area again washed out.

This is the problem at Dawlish with a rough tide, I lived in a flat where the waves would sometimes hit the windows.

I haven't seen any reports, Mikey, but it's probably Cowley junction, just east of Exeter, where the branch line from Barnstaple joins the main line.

at this time, the flood problem is at Hele and Bradninch level crossing just south of Cullompton (near where the railway parallels the M5). the water has been 6" above the rails since 7pm yesterday..... :-0

Yesterday (Dorchester area) the jungle drums were beating at work with the threat that we'd all have to spend the night there because the only 2 exit roads were completely flooded. Luckily a slight exaggeration although the roads were very dodgy.
