Massive loss for the Tory Party. Well done LibDems. Good result for the STAY campaign as well.

I'm off back to bed now !

Mikey...you also forgot to add:

\\\\Whatever Political persuasion had won the General Election, the "mess" would be exactly the same. \\\\

Perhaps on purpose?
Sqad, how are your Spanish politicians then, surely that is more to the point for you?
Question Author
YMB....I can't see your scenario is in any way likely.

But with a wafer-thin majority, even thinner this morning, I doubt that the Tories would welcome a GE either. If the Tories can be beaten in a "safe" seat like Richmond, than it can happen anywhere. 21.7% swing to the Libdems is devastating to Mrs May.

///Sqad, do you even live in this country?///

I will take that as a rhetorical question.

Does it invalidate my comments?
Question Author
Perhaps Sqad, perhaps !

We are in unknown territory here. No country has left the EU in its history, and that is why nobody is really sure how to do it....something Farage and UKIP forgot to mention during the campaign.

\\\Sqad, how are your Spanish politicians then, surely that is more to the point for you?\\\

I thought that this thread was about the Richmond bye election which is in the UK, the last time that I looked.
Yes it does invalidate them.

If you dont live in a country they you are not affected by what is happening to it. Clearly you didnt like the country and moved out. Fair enough but then dont tell those who remain in the country how to live.

Yes it is sqad, but for some reason you decixded to change the topic to a Remoaner one
//All the Spaniards that i have spoken to, cannot believe that UK opted out of EU. //

Where are you in Spain Sqad?? many of my Spanish friends, Catalans and Baques primarily though Madrilanos benmoan the EU as much as I hear it here. Mind you Catalonia and the Basque region want to spearate from Spain, The basques want their nation recognised again including the French part of it - Just curious
YMB....you are now talking nonsense and making it personal.

\\\Clearly you didnt like the country and moved out. Fair enough but then dont tell those who remain in the country how to live. ///

I still like my country, I am a British citizen....I did not leave the country because I didn;t like the UK.........I preferred to retire to warmer climates....as is my right after paying my taxes for 50 years.

What is your problem?
Ninefingers......the Balearics.

Yes, I agree bemoaning the EU is something quite different from actually leaving the EU.

Basques v Catalans is something quite different.

Sqad is a much valued member of the AB community and he is entitled to voice his opinions on any subject under the sun.

Play the ball YMB, not the man.
Sqad is absolutely right: we're a laughing stock in Europe (with a comedian as Foreign Secretary) and we are in a mess at home politically.
It is quite amusing to listen to the desperate spin being put on this by people who only a few days ago were saying Goldsmith could not lose. Admittedly Sarah Olney's majority is paltry compared to Hillary Clinton's lol ...
// Honourable and Sadiq Khan seen in the same sentrnce?//

wonders never cease - we have just had honourable and Zac in the same sentence

"Tory MP commits hara-kiri" is nearer the mark and takes into account whether Zac is japanese or not
" More to come" or "this is the year of the lemming" seems appropriate

[ "too much foreign language on AB" protests Naomi ]
sqad: "I still like my country, I am a British citizen" - so are you going to move back before brexit or become and EU citizen?
There is one fact which does not appear to have been discussed among all the political bickering on here. That is that perhaps Sarah Olney came across as an excellent candidate and all those who voted for her thought she would make an excellent M.P..
we are the laughing stock ich? because we voted to free ourselves from Tyranny? I don't think so, I think there are a lot of people nervously awaiting the domino effect.
Question Author
TTT....what business is it of yours if Sqad lives here or in sunny Spain ?

We seem to have come a long from the debacle in Richmond this morning !
TTT...I can visualize anything that would get me back to the UK, but that is a personal choice based mainly on the fact that i do not have much longer on this earth. Mrs sqad is much younger and she would never go back to the UK.
Although one should never say never.
So no, I will not be returning to the UK as a result of Brexit.
Question Author
Grumpy....good point, and I understand that she only joined the Libdems 18 months ago, so well done that lady !
