/// I am sure Khan is getting all the stick because he is Labour and Asian. ///
Where is it that Khan is getting all the stick because he is Labour and Asian?
That is all in your Pro-Asian Labour mind.
If he is getting any stick it is because of his position as Mayor of London.
/// But the guidance to schools was commissioned byTory Cabinet Minister Nicky Piper. ///
/// I am sure it is just an oversight that those condemning Khan have forgotten to condemn the Tory Minister also. ///
I provided links to both stories for debate, the nationalities, religion or political persuasion of any person has no part in this ridiculous gender over-sensitivity reaction.

/// As for this particular case, the objectionable thing was telling a stranger she "didn't sound like a miss": personal comments like that do deserve an apology. ///
No this is all about the person not sounding like a 'MISS' not a person sounding like a 'WOMAN' 'FEMALE' 'LADY' (I put all three
descriptions not to cause offence, you understand?)
A Miss is defined as a girl or young woman, so perhaps the person who answered the call thought that she sounded more mature than a Miss?
That is why he or she said "you don't sound like a Miss".

But why is he getting stick at all?
What's the big deal?
How many travellers on the London Underground will complain because they are referred to as 'passengers' rather than 'ladies and gentlemen'?
I rejoice in the fact that I live in a country where something as mind-bogglingly trivial as this can cause such a fuss...as opposed to, say - civil war, genocide or the impact of natural disasters.
I wonder if those Haitians who lost their loved ones, homes and livelihoods because of Hurricane Matthew are horrified by what we are going through with this story.

Can't argue with most that you have put, but don't you think that some persons from minority groups go over the mark so as to get their particular agenda over. Why don't they save their outbursts for the real injustices that they might experience because of their differences?

I would rather live in the country that this great country of ours once was, a country where mind-bogglingly trivial as this would cause no fuss at all.
A country where every word, sentence or article would not be scrutinised thoroughly, just in case something might offend a certain group or person.
