We have just had a new chip-oil open up few hundred yards from me so it is clearly not all doom and gloom in the industry.
Squid is best left to calamari IMHO. It can too easily be rubbery and not really suitable as an alternative to fish. Any why use it anyway there are plenty of alternatives in the white fish space.
Personally I quite like River Cobber, but I have to admit I'm not really a fish person.
