Why are we not celebating the end to the war in Aleppo?
The civilian suffering is over after 4 years, and IS and their mates are defeated.

part of the problem gromit is that the bad guys have beaten the worse guys so not much to celebrate but on the whole the people won't be initially bothered who is ruining the show as long as they have peace. How long before another attempt at overthowing Bashar though?

I think quiet relief and crossing fingers would be more appropriate in the circumstances. Not sure I see much cause for 'celebration' outside Damascus, Moscow and UKIP -and Labour Party HQ :-)
And even then, I think Mr Putin, Mr Assad and Mr Rouhani might be wondering if they can stay friends. It's not exactly an easy alliance

Possibly because as far as the West is concerned the issue was purely IS. Who won the rebel/government dispute was something they ought to have sorted for themselves (as one lot inevitably tends to turn out as bad as the other when the bust has settled). It's good that the conflict looks to be ceasing, but not that it was external forces that made a massive difference and kept a questionable leader in power.

Cus Aleppo is a long way away from "us", we have never been there and "our boys" haven't been involved.
They speak a funny language and they wear odd clothes.....any way, the Arabs are always fighting somebody, somewhere and somehow....not our concern.

Aleppo is Syrian Government territory that has been occupied by Islamic fighters. The fighters are bankrolled by the United States and Saudi Arabia/Gulf States. They have embedded themselves amongst the civilian population of Aleppo, so there will inevitably be civilian casualties.
Attacks by the Syrian Government are to kill the Islamic fighters, not to kill the population there.
Fortunately the Government have Aleppo back and the shelling and bombing can stop.
