I am in no way prude, but why do they go out dressed in the way they do and feel it necessary to drink themselves into oblivion?

Not that young men and drink are any different, but we expect young women to behave in a way more befitting to the gentler sex.

Reading through the exchanges, I think that I observe everyone responding to each other based on their own personal experiences of life, which in turn are based on the amount of experiences they have had. In AOG's case - possibly our most senior contributor, and in his eighties, he sees a modern world where women (and men) behave in a very different way from the...

'but we expect young women to behave in a way more befitting to the gentler sex'

I'm sure all young women don't feel at all patronised.

Call me old fashioned, but that is how I like my women.
Another year, another spread of scantily dressed ladettes to titillate Daily Mail readers.

Women drinking to excess is not news.

Yes and in those times, they worked in the mines and followed their men folk onto the battle fields.

But I thought that we had moved on since those distance days.
'Those times' ?
As Gromit has suggested it probably sells papers to show pictures like this. For years women have always been down-trodden and treat as second class or as some shrinking violet. Women now realise that they are every bit equal. Unfortunately this has produced some adverse behavior that young men have displayed for years without too much comment. Drunken street behavior is bad whether male or female.
Why oh why oh why..............They like to get drunk and they've no sense of self worth.
At least when they're sitting spread-eagled on the pavement lucky young men can give thanks that they've dodged that particular bullet and it's one less chance of ending up covered in the snot/tears/lipstick/vomit combo for another year.
I guess it's probably selection bias. That and aform of sexism that amounts to "sure, Men can be drunken louts and nobody cares. But a WOMAN?! The shame of it!"
Same old pictures of female drunks , delighted to see no males get inebriated !!!!. Britain has a very unhealthy relationship with alcohol :-(
that poor chap carrying the legless girl looks as if he's having a wonderful time

Well said Jim. Anachronistic stereotyping by the DM.
Disgraceful to see women away from the kitchen sink and the cooker.

No just the shame of it Jim, but the danger of it.

Don't you think that a helpless, half clad, drunken female is more in danger that any drunken lout, who's only danger may be the likelihood of suffering a bleeding nose?

We will have no support of Islamic practices here please.

But AOG you seem to be doing such a good job at it!

I suspect Islay was being sarcastic.

It's possible that the average drunk woman is in more potential danger than the average drunk man but it is, in the end, their choice to spend their night out that way, and I don't hold that it is any more or less shameful for a woman to do so. If you don't approve of women getting so drunk then don't approve of men doing the same, and don't direct your shame at one gender more than the other. It's an archaic attitude.
Lol Jim do you think ;-)
Equality works both ways. Women are allowed to be as disgustingly and vulgar as men.

What amazes me is not the drunken, lewd or base behaviour but the fact men seem to find it attractive.

I went to a sort local social club, a bit like a down market working men's club of old. And all the women were with the exception of a very few wearing dresses a size too small for them that barely covered there fat *** and showed the blues of fat, in drag queen heeled shoes. With hair pulled up into a pineapple thing on top of their heads they got drunk as skunks and were falling all over the place whilst trying to swagger about on parade like cattle at a market. The men lapped it all up. You could almost see the saliva dribbling from their mouths.

And that would appear to be one reason they do it. The men they associate with want them like it. So all this carp about empowerment of women to do what they want is just tha, carp. They do everything to attract the men in their social circles.

It is not only the working class wench, who dress in such a fashion, have you noticed how some of our female 'role model' celebrities dress for their Red Carpet parades and other celebrity's functions?
