Oh, Islay! I just know that ....."site".....was a deliberate mistake!!!! Brilliant....... ☺
Hmmmm now I have Talbot's disorder......?
This is the first time I've returned to this thread since yesterday.

Andy - no, I'm not convinced by your reasoning as to what constitutes "news", but heigh-ho, that's yet another pointless circular argument that'll never go anywhere.

Tues @ 15:59 - //I maintain that is was offered in a humorous and light-hearted manner, and if it missed its mark and offended you, or anyone else, then please accept my genuine apologies, I am not in the business of consciously upsetting anyone who does not deserve it.//

Thank you, apology accepted - although I'm at somewhat of a loss working out why you would want to make a conscious effort to upset anyone. To "debate" with that objective is surely a self-defeating position & one from which true debate cannot go forward.

Lastly from me on this thread (which is an example of why I find it wholly unsatisfying & pointless to respond in News these days); the word "pervert" hasn't been used by me or anyone else in this thread (*that I can see*), but if you *genuinely* read my use of "off-putting attitude" to mean I thought you to be one, then you have my sincere apologies in return.

To my mind, there's a mountain of difference between "pervert" & "off-putting attitude", but that's another example of why words on a screen are so often ill-equipped to portray one's thoughts in the manner intended.

Lie-in King - Thank you for your apology, although not necessary, I took no offence at your observation.

// ... I'm at somewhat of a loss working out why you would want to make a conscious effort to upset anyone. //

With the exception of responding to a personally directed hostile post aimed at me first, I have never ever made a conscious effort to upset anyone, that is simply not who I am, and I am sure you have known me on here long enough to know that.

I have re-learned a lesson of which I was aware - that written communication can and does receive misinterpretation, most of it genuine, some of it mischievous, and some of it hostile on purpose.

I have offered an explanation for what you refer to as my 'off-putting attitude' and it is for you to accept or reject it as you see fit.
