Its the consequences of what may happen following an alleged misdemeanor that is of interest. Blackmail usually being the Prime Intention .

People are 'deleted' not because they have slept with someone but because something may have been disclosed in pillow talk or the person my be susceptible to blackmail.

If you think that no such document exists and it was not shown to the CIA and subsequently to the president and Mr Trump then that is up to you.

I think the important distinction here is this -

Does a document exist? Yes, so it is not fake news.

Is the document's content open to disproof? Yes, so it may be inaccurate.

I don't think either of these scenarios add up to 'fake news' which is putting out a deliberate falsehood and saying it is true - like saying that Elvis has landed on the moon - that would be fake news.

This scenario is not fake news - and if Mr Trump was capable of thinking first instead of thinking out loud, he would have figured that out, and not said what he said about it.

But that is the problem that is going to trip up Mr Trump several times every day until he learns to think about what he going to say before he says it, not while he is saying it.

ldybirder - the stories as advised thus far do not appear, as far as I know, to include any illegal acts, but it will spend the end of Mr Trump's political career.

Looking at it logically, if any prostitute had encountered DT, and any hotel employee was aware, especially one or more who had to clean up the room afterwards, is it not likely that they would have come forward by now with a story for the highest bidder?

What will happen if the allegations are proved true?
Well we don't yet know what all those allegations are of course. Some relate to dodgy business links but not sure we have a lot of details there. The prostitute stuff is of course embarrassing and I'd be surprised if that tape, if it ever existed exists still. But all of this suggests Trump may be vulnerable to Russian blackmail and possibly worse and of course if any of it was proved it would show him up as a liar. In which case I believe the US expression might be: 'We'll impeach the ass off you' :-)

It's important to realise that Trump arguably has more enemies on the steps kican Party than the Democrats. And actually many of his policies are not exactly right wing: for example his borrow and spend plans would make John McDonnell blink I daresay. What with his tax cutting plans as well ...

I think Mr trump is reaping what he sowed.

He was fine playing at politics, grandstanding and being generally unpleasant while people clapped - rather like his reality TV show.

But this is real politics at the top end, and he is seriously out of his depth.

But the idea that anyone would sympathise with him?

That is not sickening - but it is laughable.

If you don't know the rules, don't play the game, and if you think American presidential politics is a game, then you get what you deserve.
