It is the parents money they can do what they wish, I am unsure of the law in the states but in the UK parents are required to support their child until 18 if in full time education.
It is low to cut their daughter off because of her choice of partner, tbh the daughter is better off out of it!

I think it’s reasonable to assume that Allie grew up knowing her parents opinions on mixed relationships, and that she loves her mum and dad.
So when Michael first showed interest in her, she should have thought “Yeah, I really fancy him, but I love my parents and they would absolutely hate this.”
At their ages it’s possible that this won’t turn out to be an enduring relationship, but the relationship with her parents may never recover.
Of course children should be able to find their own way in life, and they don’t always embrace their parents attitudes, but unless she only finds black men attractive, then the easiest and most sensible thing would have been not to have started this relationship.

Of course there are cultural differences between white and black people. Try telling them otherwise! It's not a bad thing, black people hold on dearly to their own cultures in their food,religion and 'soul'. Honestly reading this thread, a bunch of white middle class fussbudgets (new word of the week love it) pretending there is no cultural difference between black people and white people makes me howl with laughter. Try telling a caribbean family they have no culture..... please! Next thing will be no cultural difference between scots, welsh and english ! Its not a bad thing its a good thing!

Not that many.
Now, if they simply accepted the relationship, and let it play out - in a couple of years time when they leave college - it's highly likely the relationship will fixable out any way. When we leave school and go into work we meet new people, we grow up.
This relationship may very well fizzle out.
Instead - the parents now have a completely broken relationship with their daughter. Teenagers love a bit of drama, and the parents have handed her one on a plate.
They may live to regret this decision.
