on the OTHER subject - the news hounds have adopted a DIFFERENT attitude towards Trump....
Beeb girlie " now what do you think of Mr Trumps view that the fed judge is a non-judge and he bedda get on the right side of him to avoid the dole queue ? I mean he has a point innit ?"
American Commentator - well it is not normal nor accepted for a head of state to attack the judiciary. Classically it has led to weakening of the offices of state to the detriment of the people - look at Zim......
Beeb girlie - yes but is still to be decided by the courts and so NO-ONE knows what the answer is - it is in the melting pot wouldnt you agree - completely undecided.
American Commentator - well that ignores 4-0 against the president so far ......
beeb girlie - yeah but that underlines mr trumps valid point that these are non courts. and he has tweeted so clearly - see you in court
so it cant have been decided yet can it
or he would nt be tweeting so clearly on the subject.....
So the Beeb hasnt adopted neutrality

Thanks, Khandro. Just spent the last hour watching this (grey, cold and tippling down outside). We'd noted it was on TV, but didn't watch as we assumed there would be the usual Euro-bias. Pleasantly surprised. Katya is quite a linguist! I'm trying to learn a bit of Italian for my holiday to Florence this year, soo it was useful for that as well.
Linguist, intelligent and sooo vivacious! it's as if the Beeb allowed her to be herself at last. One thing which wasn't emphasised about Hungary and which I have highlighted on another thread (having been recently in Budapest)is the history that country has had fighting off Islam. In fact if it wasn't for them all of Europe could have fallen.

I don't agree with 'finally' in the question, the BBC has always been impartial, it is part of their charter.
And this peogramme wasn't an exercise in neutrality, it was an exploration of Nationalist Parties across Europe. For it to be neutral, they would have included the counter arguments to the French National Front, but there was nothing.
It was however an interesting programme on its subject. As a round up of the alt-right and anti EU/€ parties across the continent, it did a good job.
It did however lead to the impression that the EU and €uro are about to collapse, which I suspect is mistaken. True there are anti-Establishment Parties in Germany, and France, but it is unlikely they will have the breakthrough that the programme was predicting.
A good article here by akatya Adler, the BBCs European Editor, about the programme.

BBC Impartiality
// Ensuring the impartiality of the BBC is a key priority for the Trust; it is essential to its independence that the BBC retains the public’s trust as an impartial purveyor of news and programming.
The BBC is required to deliver duly impartial news by the Royal Charter and Agreement and to treat controversial subjects with due impartiality. The Trust is committed to making sure that the BBC fulfils this obligation. One of the ways the Trust does so, is by commissioning reviews of specific subject areas. //
Unlike newspapers, the BBC is obligated to be impartial. It has a Trust comprising of 12 independent representatives. They report to the Government of whatever colour, and the BBCs impartiality has never seriously been questioned.
This programme is not a good example of neutrality. It is a beauty pageant of European right wing parties, which is why it has impressed you so much. But in terms of balance, there wasn't any. No mention of Le Pen's opponents, or how likely these right wing parties are of taking power.

Left wing and right wing extremists share an hatred of the BBC, because they both feel threaten by its non partisanship.
Both Thatcherites and Blairites riled against the BBC for percieved bias because they didn't run with their populist movements, but instead questioned some of its more dislikeable aspects. That was not dissent by the broadcaster, but part of its function to be independent of the Government, and of any political party.
