You are wrong, though, about being guided by those most directly affected.
The now jailed parents of a local baby who suffered the most shocking and life changing abuse are the most affected....but none of us would want to be guided by their response and jokes when they finally took her to hospital.......x

That has been said Zacs, but not by the family itself.

One of the first laws of journalism is to follow stories back their source. It would be interesting to see what their reaction to this sign is, from their own mouths.

If it can be proved that they don't have a problem with the sign, then that would OK for me.

It's not the same thing as being kidnapped......

I've seen the sign several times and never thought of it being in any way offensive.

Very, very sad and horrible what happened to that little girl, but I do not find this sign insensitive in the least.

I just think it's bizarre. Is kidnapping a big problem generally? And I'd just repeat what I said earlier: how goes weighing more make you harder to kidnap!!

As others have said it's an old joke (google it and see the various hits, t-shirts, cafe signs etc.)
I don't find it particularly funny but not offensive either.
