Religion No Excuse For Gay Discrimination

In a similar case to Cakegate, a court in the US has ruled that discrimination against gays on religious grounds isn't lawful:

A, I am not ranting. B, I have the balls to call out homophobic bigots what ever their religion ... try it for once.

hereIam - //And I am entitled to my view and she is NOT a bigoted, nasty woman and I could not care less how many of you think I'm intolerant or I'm discriminating or whatever, I really could not. Got to go now, so go on you do-gooders, have a field day ... //
Of course you are - but no-one said you were not entitled to your opinion, however, you inferred that I was not entitled to mine.
Who on here is a 'do-gooder'? Unless you believe that homophobia, bigotry and law-breaking are acceptable, and if you think it is unacceptable, as I do, and that makes me a 'do-gooder' in your eyes, then I have no problem with that at all.
Hopefully you will have calmed down when you come back.

My two pence worth,
is that in this world where young girls and children are regularly hanged, beheaded, stoned to death for the crime of being raped it must take a form of narcissism bordering on insanity to think your choice of flowers and cakes is of such importance.
The expression 'get over yourselves' springs to mind.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!
What the majority of people on here are discussing is a situation where a law has been broken for reasons based on religious intolerance - so quite how that links to what you are saying escapes me - do you wish to elaborate?

Why type
NO
When you can type
Talbot - until a couple chooses to tell me they are gay, assuming that they are is simply an assumption, and assuming is not always a good idea.
I assume (I think I'm on safe ground here!) that AOG is referring to a pair of camp men who appear together.
Why should we assume that because they are both being effeminate, that they are either gay, or a couple?
Do we assume that every man and woman we see together are a couple simply because they are together and they are opposite genders?
It's a bit like assuming that all Muslims and immigrants are terrorists ...
I'll leave it there ...

If I understand you correctly, you appear to be saying that because there are extreme religious intolerances practiced in other countries, that somehow nullifies or dilutes the religious intolerance shown by this woman.
It doesn't - intolerance should be hammered into the ground whenever wherever possible, and that is what this debate has been about.

You asked:
Let's just say for the moment that the florist says 'sorry, I can't cater to your request' and our two heroes get the hump and start questioning her as to why.
How many times is she allowed to repeat her statement before homophobia is assumed OR, how long can the potential customer harangue her before she calls the police to eject them AND, who would end up before the beak when the thin blue line arrests her for thought crime?
She can repeat her statement as many times as she likes. If the customer doesn't accept the statement, then business owner can ask them to leave and if they do not, the business owner can call the police to get them ejected.
At that point the customer can choose to take out a civil case, but unless the owner has given a reason for refusing to serve the customer, it's unlikely to result in a win.

I'm going to explain why your post from 17:13 makes me roll my eyes.
What you're doing is looking at the absolute worst things in the world and saying, "Look at that - that's terrible, so what you're going through is trivia."
Think about what you're implying there.
It's like you're saying to a woman who works in Tesco head office in Welwyn Garden City who has been overlooked for promotion simply because she's a woman, "Listen - there are women in Iraq who are stoned to death when they accuse someone of rape."
Or even better - if a mate of yours is burgled and has his family heirlooms stolen, it's like you saying, "Okay, you were burgled, but there was a bloke in Wolverhampton who was killed last week in a car accident - get over yourself."
Do you see my point?

Just thought of a better analogy...
If you got home after work on Monday, and you found someone had defected on your door mat. That would make you more angry and upset than if you heard that someone's house twelve streets away had a house fire.
In the grand scheme of things, you can quickly wipe up the poo from your front porch, and it's not that big a deal.
The house fire is a much bigger deal - but it's geographically removed from you. You may feel sympathy, you may even help them with a car boot sale to raise money for them - but you would not feel the same sense of grievance as them.
Geography and association are determining factors.
