I wonder how many other forms of child abuse are allowed to go unpunished in the West Midlands. In fact what do you have to do to a child before you will be prosecuted if not for FGM?

Every airport should have a matron with powers to inspect any child being taken abroad, especially if going to any of the countries where cutting is part of the way of life. This matron is to check the condition of each child on her way out and her way back. This happens in Sweden - no reason it can't happen here. That really discourages parents, since they know any cutting will be discovered, resulting in huge fines and/or imprisonment.

The case that Talbot linked to has been discussed previously. The patient had been a victim of FGM and after giving birth the surgeon repaired her as best he could. Hence, he wasn’t guilty of FGM. FGM is a sickening practice largely ignored, in my opinion, because criticism of ethnic minorities is frowned upon.

They should be jailed. Full stop. This is a disgusting barbaric practice that is not being dealt with due to fears of being labelled a racist or xenophobe etc.

Make some examples, they can be educated in Jail. And for those who do not hold a passport immediate deportation after Jail.
